AGN/BDP/25/05/23/02 - OPENING REMARKS

The District Superintendent called the meeting to order followed with an opening
prayer at 09:13am.
He thanked God for granting the General Council Leaders retreat a success.
Also he thanked the Lord for his faithfulness in keeping all Ministers, Members and
the entire District secured and safe in Him.
Lastly he committed the deliberation of the meeting unto God’s hand for success.
The Reverend Emmanuel Ernest was asked to summarise the prayers.

AGN/BDP/25/05/23/03 - READING OF PREVIOUS MINUTES

Previous minutes were read by the Secretary; Rev Kpaanah Godwin and was seconded
by Rev Newton Saviour. The House adopted the minutes.
AGN/BDP/25/05/23/04 - MATTERS ARISING
4.1 DISTRICT REVIVAL MEETING WITH REV. VITAHI JOHN
Rev. Omoha Gospel, the District Coordinator of Cooperate Ministries visited the
House and briefed the Presbytery the extent he had gone to ensure the programme a
success.

2.1 APPOINTMENT OF MISSION/EVANGELISM TEAM
The following members had been appointed by the presbytery as members of
evangelism team. The team will boost or revive engagement of evangelistic
activities in the obstruct.

2.3 PASTOR’S WHO VISITED THE HOUSE
1. Rev. Anki Michael
He came to meet the house with an information that his son was sick and
hospitalized at Toru Onia University.
His appeal was noted, and a purse was approved for him for the treatment
of the child.

2.4 MARRIAGE INTERVIEW

Sister Grace Emmanuel Ernest of AG 2 Okutukutu came with brother Miebi
mark of the Eden ministries in Amassoma to be interviewed by the presbytery.
They were interviewed successfully, I am encouraged to continue with their
proposal to get married.
2.3.1 GIUS BARIBE BLESSING AND NENGIMOLE BLESSING ALAGOA
WERE ADJOURNMENT.
At this point of meeting, Rev. Kpamah moved a motion for adoption of minutes.
The motion was seconded by Rev. Saviour Newton.
Closing prayer was said by Rev. Saviour Newton at 16.09pm
2.4 PASTOR/EVANGELIST IGWE YOUNG OF ELEME TAI DISTRICT.
The Pastor came with a letter duly signed by the superintendent of Eleme Tai,
which conveyed his intention for inter district transfer.
According to be Pastor Igwe Young currently he is a worker with Dangotee Co.
and he desired to be a part time pastor in Bayelsa District, as he has been doing
in Eleme tai District.
Response of the presbytery.
Though, the leadership of the district may not be willing to put off his desire.
Firstly, he would have negolaited with leadership before the application. He was
advised to do so.
2.5. SECRETARIAT BUILDING PROJECT
Henceforth, the leadership of the district had determined to save at heart
N200,000.00 for the building project. Besides every member should support the
project with one block of cement monthly.
Also the entrance road path that leads to the secretariat should be properly
constructed to case the movement of vehicles to the secretariat.
2.6 APPRECIATION DAY FOR DS
August 27, 2023 was ear marked by the presbytery for district superintendent
appreciation day.
2.7 DISTRICT MARRIAGE SEMINAR
A date is yet to be ear marked for district marriage seminar
2.8 proposed visit to Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State.
Due to magnanimity of the Deputy Governor of the State to destruct widows,
leadership had resolved to pay a courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor with gift
of kindness to appreciate his kindness and love to the district.
They are fully backed up by the presbytery, the chairman asserted.
The evangelism team, prayer tank force will work hand in hand with the mission
board. The chairman released his prayer of blessings to all inaugurated departments.

He came to inform the house about dilapidated condition of the district camp ground
fence, which had began to break and falling apart. That it needs urgent attention to be
repaired, he asserted.

The information was noted.

0.6 REV. ALUKU COBURIAUGA

He came to seek for financial assistance to treat his wife which has been sick for some
time.
Appeal was noted by the house.

3.1 DISTRICT CAR COMMITTEE
Procurement of acquisition of a suitable jeep car for the district superintendent.
The Deacon to prepare a new jeep car for the DS was due to the inconveniences
suffered by the DS due to the fact that the old jeep car was become so bad and old that
it has become Liability (embarrassment). From affirmation problem to be solved 98
Member Committee to purchase the car was appointed by the Presbytery.

3.2 Induction of Migarian Advanced school of Theology: Bayelsa Study Centre.
Due to the distress of the Naira and the high cost of transportation in the country, The
authorities of Nigerians advanced school of theology has resolved to inaugurate
immigrate the branch of its school, a study Centre in Bayelsa state, at Akenfa.

The introduction of the study Centre took place on Saturday 19 th of august 2023 at
Akenfa. Leadership of the district recommended two personnel as lecturers of the
school. They are

1. Rev. Godwin Kpaeuah

2. Dr. Benson Sonny Albert

The study Centre in opened to are members who are called with ministry to enroll and
pursue diploma in degree programmes in theology.

The District Superintendent called the meeting to order at 11:06am.
The District Superintendent lead us to prayer, summarized by Rev. Saviour and Rev.
Ernest O.
AGN/BDP/11/08/23/02 - NEW BUSINESS
1. Transfers: Transfer was shifted to next meeting later this month as some
members of the Presbytery were unavoidably absent.
2. Secretariat work has to commence again. We have to start somewhere.
3. District Project: Day exchange of pulpit.
Ernest/Saviour were mandated to do the exchange of pulpit on the 17 th of
September, 2023.
4. PFN Annual Levy: N500,000 has been apportioned to 3 districts viz: Bayelsa,
Bayelsa East and Bayelsa North.

A purse of 50 Thousand Naira was given to the District Secretary to assist the
marriage.

AGN/BDP/11/08/23/06 - NEWVALENT/PRISCILLIA
Pst. Newvalent Precious has been released from the Mbargo of not pastoring. Now he
is free to be posted. Permission to remarry, the direction will come from BoA.
A recommendation to General Council to remarry will be written by the Secretary.
Newvalent/Priscillia will be invited for final fare hearing.
Next meeting – week before 21st of August, 2023 account.

AGN/BDP/11/8/23/07 - DISTRICT EVANGELISM DAY

Every first Sunday of the new month has been earmarked for evangelism, after Sunday
School.

AGN/BDP/11/08/23/08 - SOLAR LIGHT FOR DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENT

The house had approved solar light for the District Superintendent.

Newvalent and Priscillia
He was asked to tell the house the details of how far they had gone about the
reconciliation of their marriage.
2nd August 2023. He came to return the dowry.
Priscillia and parents had returned the marriage dowry on 2nd of August, 2023, he said.
The witnesses for divorce.

Question: Should Pastor Newvalent and Precious remarry?
1. The presbytery had intervened for their reconciliation several times but sister
Priscillia was adamant to fatherly instruction.
2. The District Superintendent and wife had intervened yet she refused for
reconciliation.
3. ACP of Bayelsa had intervened, yet Priscillia refused.
4. Others intervened, yet she refused.
All efforts of the presbytery for their reconciliation were abortive, she was unbending.
The presbytery recommends that Newvallent Precious should remarry.
An official letter of recommendation be written to BoA for approval.

Uptill now some pastors and churches have not paid for the District Almanac they
collected. A list of debtors will be published later.
