Personal Statement

Hi my name is Rafael I live in Merced California,I love soccer and Basketball they make

me feel different . I will graduate this year and I want to become a soldier so I could be

able to get papers for my mother so that my mother can come here with me and also for

my father in case they can be obtained for two people. I was born here in the United

States thanks to my parents. When I was born they took me to Mexico, my family grew

up poor. We always grew food that we ate from time to time. We sold the food for

something that would be taken care of one day, one day my sister went to the United

States. She rented a house and she always worked hard .One day I told my sister if I

could go with her so I could have a good future and a good education then help my

family. I came here, entered the School then started working in the field. I always

worked hard so I could get more money so I could send it to my family in mexico.I got

stressed from so much work but my mom always motivated me to keep going no matter

what happens. We are from a very humble family.One of my hardships was that my dad

alway drank and he always hit my mom. He always got angry with her and yelled at her,

it always made me angry but I couldn't do anything since I was still little.

My mom always give me discipline to not give up no matter what happen how hard the

job is. She always buys me snacks or food. Now it's my turn to help her with whatever

she needs.This makes me stay motivated and makes me a better person. This is a

good benefit that I get from being born here. This would help my family to get out of

poverty.
In the future I want to be a soldier and protect the nation. Since I was a child I liked

weapons and when I was a soldier I wanted to buy my own house with a large plot of

land with animals and marry a beautiful woman.
