Anchors

Insert-pump anchors are small packers that take the place of seating assemblies in
bottom-anchor pumps. The insert-pump anchors allow a pump to be run in a well not
equipped with a seating nipple or where a pump is stuck in the pump seating nipple.

The insert-pump anchor also can be used where tubing has a hole near the pump
seating nipple. These tools allow pumping of a deep well from some intermediate

bottomhole pressure is high.

In addition, this production tool provides a trouble-free method of anchoring and

Advanced features of this tool include:

Complete vertical action sets, packs-off, releases and resets without rotation.
Self-locking collet design sets and releases packing and slips without danger of
jamming or pre-setting.
The split-cone design ensures reliable initial holddown force.
Automatically positioned for resetting when released — can be raised or lowered
and then reset without pulling from the tubing.

economy to many pumping installations. Using the insert-pump anchor allows
the operator to select the best pump-setting depth after the well is completed and
tubing has been run.

Insert-pump anchors are offered in 2 3/8-in., 2 7/8-in. and 3 1/2-in. tubing and
come with a standard 24-in. stroke in all three sizes. It also is available with a long
48-in. stroke in the 2 3/8-in. and 2 7/8-in. sizes.

pin from the running slot to the setting slot.

1 Attach anchor to pump and start into tubing with dowel pin in starting position.

1 Run pump to desired depth, attach polished rod and lower to point
established for bottom of stroke. Now raise polished rod distance established in
Step 1, then lower full weight of rods on the anchor to set and pre-load the pack-off.

21 To re-set anchor, unseat witha straight pull on the rod string, then raise or
lower to desired setting position, and re-set as in Step 3.
