When should I arrive at Riverwood HS?
After receiving your actual 12/9 judging time and room assignment from your school liaison by December 4th, plan to arrive 30-40 minutes prior to your assigned time. Check-ins will be on the 1st floor lobby by the front entrance. All judging rooms are located on the 2nd floor or the media center on the 1st floor.
What should I expect on 12/9 (Saturday)?
Students should use the rubric for their category to anticipate the types of questions judges will ask during the interview portion. Once in your assigned room, you have up to 8 minutes to set up all necessary items for the interview. Your parents are allowed to help you bring in your items and stay in the room for 5 minutes. The room captain will help you finish up and lead the pair of judges to your room when it is time. Parents must go back to the waiting area while their students are being interviewed. Your presentation will be 5-8 minutes long to show the functions and uniqueness of your project. You are responsible to bring in your own power and extension cord. You will still be required to present even when the internet is not working on 12/9. The judge interview will be 3-5 minutes long. The purpose of the interview is to better understand your knowledge, skills, and the creative process for your category. On average, you will spend 10-12 minutes with the judges presenting and answering judges’ questions about your project. Once the interview concludes, please leave Riverwood HS and enjoy your weekend. Your result will not be announced on the day of the competition.
What is the dress code?
You may dress casually or professionally as long as you follow the Fulton County school dress code (i.e., no crop tops, shorts must be longer than your fingertips, etc.)
When will winners be announced?
The top 3 winners for each grade level band competition category will be announced by 1/16/2024 on the FCSTC official website and will also be emailed to all school liaisons. All 1st place winners will be advanced to the in-person GaSTC on 3/2/2024 (Saturday).
