Minutes of the meeting
JANUARY 19,2024

The session started with a prayer led by Mrs. Esperanza F. Tubillara. Ms.
Ma. Garde B. Cleofe school principal, talked about the implementation of Catch-Up
Fridays. The firs She emphasized the importance of Catch-up Fridays which is to
address the low proficiency of learners in reading based on national and
international large-scale assessments and this is also to address the gaps and
reinforce foundational, social, and relevant skills.
1. Catch Up Fridays will begin on January 12,2024.
2. DEAR (Drop everything and read) will be on January 19 and 26. For
January 26, 2024, which falls during mid-year break, learners may be
encouraged to continue DEAR at home.
3. National Reading Program will be allotted for the first half of the day and
on the second half will be the teaching of Values, Health and Peace
Education and Homeroom Guidance.
4. Sample class program was also presented.
5. Learner’s progress will be monitored through reflection journals.
6. An integrative approach will be employed using content from various
learning areas.
7. Strategies such as Drop Everything and Read(DEAR) Read a Thon and
expert-led for a will be utilized.
8. Encourage stakeholder engagement to gather support and ensure
sustainability of catch up-Fridays.
