JOINT GROUP FINAL PROJECT

COMPETITION WINNER (RevoU-Madrid-Jan2022)

Taking the role as the Data team for San Francisco Police Department, our objective is to provide necessary
recommendations to the primary decision maker on how we can effectively allocate our resources depending
on the situation, based on our findings.

FOUND THE FOLLOWING INSIGHTS :

1 2 1. North-Eastern part of the city is the
most dangerous.
2. There is a strong correlation between
the average monthly rent payment and
the number of crime in that district.

crime trend after each new COVID
variant breakout.
4. Some of the Top Tourist Attractions
are in close proximity with the crime
hotspots.

during New Year’s Eve Celebration.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Using a simple linear regression model we proposed the optimal number of police officers in a police district as we
found that the police officer allocation is not in proportion with number of incidents.
Findings about crimes after COVID can be used for future references to plan for in case something similar happened.
To ensure the safety of tourists we also recommend to spread awareness and improve security measures on locations
that were in close proximity with the crime hotspots.
