FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Third Revision) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards, after the draft finalized
by the Automotive Tyres, Tubes and Rims Sectional Committee hdcibeen approved by the Transport Engineering
Division Council. This standard was first published in 1979 and was revised in 1985 and 1992, In the present
revision, based on industry feedback, new valves with designations B 573 57,ED46 32,E496 32,R796 09,
RB96 09 and R 41609 have been included. Valves with designations A 201 45,ED85 32,E535 32,
R796 13, RB96 14 and R 41613 have been deleted since these are no more in use. Tube SpudM276 B4
has also been deleted. Modifications in figures and tolerances have also been done in order to align them with
the present worldwide practices.

Valves designation comprising six character alpha-numeric code derived from their major functional as well as
basic dimensional characteristics as per IS 10939, has been used in this standard.

For the purpose of deciding whether a particular requirement of this standard is complied with, the final value,
observed or calculated, expressing the result of a test or analysis, shall be rounded off in accordance with
IS 2:1960 ‘Rules for rounding off numerical values (revised)’ The number of significant places retained in the
rounded off value, should be the same as that of the specified value in this standard.
