Teacher’s Directions: Read the sentences from the Direct Speech column. Students will mark
the Reported Speech on their Bingo Cards. Make sure to mark which sentences you’ve already
said to make it easier to check students' Bingo cards.

When a student calls “Bingo!”, use your Teacher’s Sheet to make sure they’ve marked the
correct Reported Speech.

*Please note that number 13 and 14 can both be marked for “They did it.”

Direct Speech Reported Speech

1 What is that? The teacher asked what that was.

2 What are these? The teacher asked what those were.

3 What did they do? The teacher asked what they did.

4 When is that? The teacher asked when that was.

5 Where is that? The teacher asked where that was.

6 Who is that? The teacher asked who that was.

7 Is that it? The teacher asked if that was it.

8 Are these it? The teacher asked if those were it.

9 Do they have it? The teacher asked if they had it.

10 Did they do it? The teacher asked if they did it.

11 That is it. The teacher said that was it.

12 These are them. The teacher said those were them.

13 They did it. The teacher said they had done it.

14 They do it. / They did it. The teacher said they did it.
