Review comments on PG syllabus of Chemistry

The PG Chemistry syllabus from I semester to IV semester has been planned

systematically. The syllabus covers all the core subjects to provide an extensive knowledge in
different subjects of Chemistry very well. The scope of the framed syllabus to give a
complete understanding of various subjects of Chemistry to the students at PG level is very
much appreciated. On the whole the syllabus can be approved in the present form.

The following points may be considered to further enrich the syllabus to motivate the
students for their research career in future.

1. Analytical chemistry paper which covers the various instrumentation techniques may be
changed as core paper rather than the elective paper.

2. Industry oriented subjects like Petroleum chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Food
Chemistry shall be included in the syllabus which will help the students to make themselves
competent for the job opportunities in such industries.

3. Industrial applications oriented practical experiments shall be included in the practical

syllabus.

4. Polymer chemistry may be planned as a separate paper rather than covered as a single unit
entitled Macromolecules in PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY –III (PG3C12).

5. In Material Chemistry (PG3CE1) paper, topics on polymer nanocomposites may also be

included along with nanomaterials.
