Engineer Gerard Rizardo is our professor in Engineering Utilities (Electrical Engineering)

subject. He is one of those professors who contribute a lot in my 2 nd Year College. During our first
meet, as far as I remember it was an online meeting, I didn’t expect that he was a jolly one. He pranked
us with his very serious attitude which is not so him when in person. That was nice because it is hard
to find a professor who would jibe on our vibes. That was really rare, so I am grateful with that. Not
knowing his story, he seemed like a strong independent man and an always happy guy who had no
problems in life. He seemed like a brilliant guy who knows a lot in academic especially in field of
electrical engineering. Without any flattery but yes, that was Sir Gerard.

I’m a type of student or a person who has less expectations with other people due to past
experiences, so I think I still bring it up until now. But having this kind of characteristic, I think sir
Gerard Rizardo had met the standard of a being a professor. Though sometimes, he’s getting late in
the class, but still he’s sending updates on us and still recover the topics that we missed. He is a
standard professor because of the thing that we are enjoying the class discussion while learning. For
me, that was the best way to learn or to gain knowledge from the professor. If the professor caught
the attention of the class without being pressured but just having fun while teaching his students, that
was rare. And yes, undeniably, sir Gerard did it. I’m grateful that PUP sent him to our section. He really
has that quality of teaching yet the humor we, students, were always wanted to have. I am also
thankful that this semester is full face- to- face class because we encountered such a professor like
him.

In our almost four months with Sir Gerard, we had different topics and honestly because of
him I only learned that topic about series and parallel circuit and resistors. Like literally no joke, I can’t
get that topic in my high school days. I can’t even imagine that in just an hour I was able to cope up
that topic. And also the Ohm’s Law which I really hated during high school but through this subject, I
was able to say that it was very easy to understand. Another topic that I learned in this subject is how
a current flow and where does it came from, its properties, and the reasons behind that flow of
current. There are lots of terminologies about electrical engineering were taught by sir Gerard, which
only in him I learned that the term for illegal actions against electricity is what we called pilferage. Last
thing I won’t forget with sir Gerard is how he taught us to be happy always in all ways. That we don’t
need to be pressured, we just have to enjoy the moment and feel it. He taught us that we are not in a
race and in competition, we just have to do our best and be proud in ourselves. That was the message
he left during the symposium he did with us.

We have lots of memories within almost four months with sir Gerard but the most
unforgettable moment for me is the midterm practical examination. Within those two days, the
hardwork and effort of everyone has seen. The cooperation of every individual, leaders and members
of each group have been observed. The unity of every group was there. I remember I have no eat
during that day because the activities were simultaneous and I was lacking out of time if I took time
to eat. But after all the efforts, the sweat, the epic fails, everyone got that UNO which is a great
achievement for us. Thankfully that sir Gerard noticed our efforts and hardwork during that practical
examination. The best reward- moment ever.

To this person behind the Electrical Engineering subject, Sir Engr. Gerard Rizardo, you
deserved applause from us. Thank you for your understanding. Thank you for the knowledge you
shared with us. Thank you for the memories we built, for those laughs, and serious moments with you.
Everything is unforgettable. I will always remember you as our bestfriend professor in PUP. Just keep
on inspiring others with your board exam story and if ever Railway Engineering will have a board exam
in the future, if we would have the same scenario, I will also sleep exact 30 minutes during exam and

then keep on fighting as what you did. Sir, just don’t forget to take a rest and enjoy life. Hope to see
you always in CEA. Rooting for you, Sir!
