GRADE 10 ACADEMIC EXTERNAL SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION FORM

Minimum criteria: To be eligible for the academic scholarship, the following minimum
criteria must be met. Only applications that meet the minimum criteria will be
considered. (At the same time, meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee the applicant a
scholarship.)

1. An 80% aggregate at the end of Grade 8
2. Participation in school activities – sport and enrichment activities
Thank you for applying for a scholarship opportunity at Merrifield. Please note that these are primarily
academic scholarships, though all-round abilities and involvement are certainly taken into account as well.
The scholarships offered are part scholarships and do not cover the full fees.

INSTRUCTIONS: Please complete this application form and submit it together with your final 2022 report and a
curriculum vitae, as well as a paragraph motivating your application. This should be a personal motivation
handwritten by the student himself/herself. Please include a recent photograph with the application.

All applications must reach the school by Thursday 23 March 2023. All finalists will be required to undergo an
interview and selection process at Merrifield College. All applicants will be informed about the outcome of
their scholarship applications towards the middle of May 2023.

Note: Although the awarded scholarships are intended to apply for the duration of the FET phase, they will be
subject to an annual review which will take place at the end of each academic year spent at Merrifield, and
will be based on the yearly performance of the recipient.

IMPORTANT NOTE: A SEPARATE COLLEGE APPLICATION FORM MUST BE COMPLETED AND SUBMITTED WITH THIS

The final decision rests with the Governing Body of Merrifield Preparatory School and College and no
correspondence will be entered into.
