KEEP BLEEDING

LOVE: A SUCCESS
A Blood Donation Drive in Partnership with the
Community

BLOOD KEEPS HUMAN ALIVE

According to Mayo Clinic website, “blood donation is a
voluntary procedure that help save lives of others.
Whole blood donation is the most common type
during which you donate about a pint (about half a
liter) of whole blood.”

Blood keeps human alive. It takes nutrients and

oxygen to the tissues and carries away wastes.
There are lots of diseases which need
supplementation of blood hence availability of
safe blood in blood banks is very essential. A
blood transfusion is a common hospital
procedure in which donated blood are given
through veins. Amount or volume of blood
depends on the case of the patient. BLOOD DONATION

used to be an annual project until the pandemic

drastically.

JANUARY 30, 2022 AT LAMOT 2 COVERED COURT

OVER THE PANDEMIC
Quarantine and lockdowns aimed to limit
social engagement to prevent transmission
of the Covid 19 virus. But the demand for
blood supply did not change. Changes in
restrictions hinder massive bloodletting
activities in universities, companies, etc.
thus resulting in low supply of blood
products.

As RCY adviser, this challenged me to

facilitate bloodletting activity in our humble
house. The first one is a collaboration of
RCYs (former and present officers and
members) and a group of teachers. It was
held in our house’s garage and collected a
good number of blood. It happened again
on September of the same year. January
2021, the LGU of Brgy. Lamot 2, Calauan,
Laguna became a partner and approved the

ended with a smile and fulfillment from
the entire group.

Facilitating blood donation

drive is not easy. It requires
funds, manpower and
passion to do it. Having
been collected over a
hundred bags of blood in
one means saving almost
300 human lives. Since we
started from year 2016,
over a thousand of units of
blood were collected. We
are also able to provide unit
of blood for the residents of
Calauan without paying the
processing fee. We also give
priority to the blood donors,
committee, and sponsors
(in case a member of their
family needs blood)

Progress Report the progress

The graph shows the progress in the
125
collection of blood from May, 2020 to
100 January, 2022. From 49 blood bags in
May 07, 2020, it significantly increase
75 until it reached the highest blood bag
collection which was last January 30,
50 2022.
