Daniel Kahneman's seminal study "Thinking, Fast and Slow" delves into the two distinct systems that

control human cognitive processes, System 1 and System 2. The book explores the psychological
processes that govern judgment and highlights the cognitive biases that affect how we make decisions.

System 1 relies on instinct and rapid reasoning to function smoothly and autonomously. We are able to
get through everyday life more easily because of the rapid-fire mechanism. System 2 on the other hand
requires more deliberate, slow thinking that calls for intentional effort and concentration. Kahneman
uses various examples to demonstrate these systems and show how they interact to affect how we
perceive the outside world.

The idea of cognitive biases—systematic patterns of departure from norm or rationality in judgment,
which frequently result in perceptual errors—is one major issue.
