Suggested Learning Activities


1. Using collected samples of the different crops, learners name the
different crops grown by commercial and communal farmers and

what they are used for.


2. In groups, learners list the various agriculture jobs created for the
sample goods to be produced; e.g. Farm workers (some who,
plough, water, harvest), veterinary workers, field officers, sales and
marketing people, bakers, millers, butchers.
3. Learners list activities done at community and national level when
marketing the different crops that they grow.
4. (a) Using pictures of different animals, learners describe the various
activities carried out by commercial and communal farmers in
the rearing of animals such
 i. Hand milking at communal land
ii. Machine milking at commercial farming level
iii. Dipping and dosing of the cattle

5. L ist the different farming activities done at communal and
commercial level to produce products from animals such as
producing of biltong by commercial farmers.
6. Visit a commercial farmer or a communal farmer, state the activities
carried out by these farmers, such as dozing of cattle, dipping
animals etc.

(i) Weeding
  (ii) Planting a crop
(iii) Dozing cattle (etc).
