Passport Book
If your passport is not valid for 6 months after your mission release date then you will need to
obtain a new passport before submitting any visa documents to Missionary Travel. Please pay
the extra fees to expedite the renewal of the passport. Expediting times can take 4 – 8 weeks to
process.
Immediately. As soon as you have your passport scan and email a photocopy of your
current passport ID/signature page to MexicoVisas@ChurchofJesusChrist.org.
Yes. You will need to mail your actual passport book in order to obtain the Mexico visa.
Do missionaries need to complete the parts of the visa application that there are
no instructions for?
No. Only complete the portions of the visa application that you are specifically instructed to
complete on your visa instructions sheet.
Can I make corrections to my visa application/questionnaire forms if the
information already filled in is not correct?
You may use white-out tape (not liquid) to make needed changes. Do not scribble or cross things
out.
If I have some of my visa documents, can I mail some now and mail the rest
later?
No, missionaries should send all of their visas documents at the same time.
Your visa might not be obtained by the time you complete your training at the Mexico
Missionary Training Center (Remote Training) and you would then be sent to a temp assignment
until your visa has been obtained. Any official changes in your assignment will be
communicated to you through your Stake President or the Provo Mexico Missionary Training
Center (Remote Training).
No. You don’t need immunizations for your visa, but if they are required for your mission you
need to bring proof of those with you. Immunization questions can be answered by calling
801- 240-6454. Please call Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. MST.
Yes. All missionaries called to serve in Mexico must make a personal appearance to obtain their
visa. Missionary Travel will contact you when it is time to schedule your personal appearance.
It is a month before I am scheduled to enter the Mexico Mexico Missionary
Training Center (Remote Training) and I have not made my personal
appearance. Should I be worried?
No, you should not be worried. Missionaries generally are scheduled to make their personal
appearance one month prior to their Mexico Missionary Training Center (Remote Training) date,
but can be scheduled to make their personal appearance up to a week before they enter the
Mexico Missionary Training Center (Remote Training).
We advise that you don’t plan any international travel 2 months prior your Mexico Missionary
Training Center (Remote Training) date because your passport book is needed for us to obtain
your visa for Mexico. Any international travel done 2 months prior your Mexico Missionary
Training Center (Remote Training) date may cause a delay in obtaining your visa, which could
result in you having to serve in a temporary assignment within the United States until your visa
has been obtained.
You will receive your itinerary to your mission at the Mexico Missionary Training Center
(Remote Training).
Missionaries are not required to travel with a companion or other missionaries. However, based
on availability it is possible missionaries will be booked on the same flights.
