This document summarizes key information about spherical mirrors and lenses. It describes that spherical mirrors have two types: concave mirrors which reflect light inward to a focal point, and convex mirrors which reflect light outward. Concave mirrors are used to focus light, while convex mirrors are not. It also mentions that lenses can form images of different sizes and orientations depending on the location of the object relative to the focal point. The document provides examples of how to use three ray diagrams to locate the image formed by a lens for objects in different positions.

(Orientation, Type , and Magnification) of images formed by plane and curved mirrors and lenses Spherical Mirrors: The mirrors which contain curved reflecting surface are called spherical mirrors. They are two types: 1) Concave mirror or converging mirror –has a reflecting surface that is recessed inward (away from the incident light). It reflects light inward to one focal point. They are used to focus light. Examples: automobile headlights, reflecting telescopes, torch lights, etc. 2)Convex mirror or diverging mirror is a curved mirror in which the reflective surface bulges toward the light source. Convex mirrors reflect light outwards ; therefore, they are not used to focus light.
Examples: rear side mirrors of vehicles, optical instruments ,calling bell, etc.
