According to !h" orO.r, i*ru.O in G.O. dated 8.05.97readat (1) above,a
Government servant w_hohas.reachedthe maximum of tirnq scale of pay or
SelectionTime Scale of pay underthe Karnataka Civil Services(Time Bound
Advaneement) Rules; 1983 or Senior Scale of pay qnder the KarnatakaCivil
Services(Automatic Grant of SpecialPromotion to Senior Scaleof pay) Rules,
l99f and who is grantedSelectionTime scalelSeniorScaleof pay or is promotedto
higher post oh or after l-4-96 before accrual of stagnationincrement,if he so
desiresshall give an option in writing to continue in the scaleof pay of the lower
post or in the SelectionTime Scaleor Seniorscaleof pay:asthe casemaybe until
he gets the benefit of stagnationincrement,to the authorities specifiedthere in
'within three months from the date of grant of Sel.ectionTime scale.ofpay or

Senior Scale of pay or promotionas the casemay be or from th,e-dateof issueof

In the Government ordersreadat (2) & (3) above, the time limit specified
for exercise of option for StagnationIncrement was extendedupto 3l-12-gg &
3l -07-2012 respectively.

Several caseshave beenbroughtto the notice of the Government,wherein

requestshave been madeby Governmentservantsto further extendthe time lirnit
for exerciseof option for stagnationincrement as there is anomalyi$.thepay of
