TOPIC: Patterns (Numerical and Geometric)
CONCEPTS & SKILLS TO BE ACHIEVED:
By the end of the lesson learners should know and be able to:
• Investigate and extend numeric and geometric patterns looking for relationships between
numbers, including patterns:
- represented in physical or diagram form
- not limited to sequences involving a constant difference or ratio
- of learners own creation
- represented in tables
- represented algebraically
• Describe and justify rules for observed relationships between numbers in own words or in

LESSON DEVELOPMENT : NUMBER PATTERNS
CLASSWORK:
Work through the exercise. Only consult the answers ate the end of the lesson, once you
have completed the exercise:

ACTIVITY 1:
1. Determine the value of a and b in the sequence and describe the sequence.
(The same value can be added, subtracted, multiplied, divided or a combination of
calculations to form a number pattern or sequence)
Example: 2; 8; 14; a ; b
Answer: 2; 8; 14; 20; 26 (ADD 6)
