Toy Stuffing
When finishing each piece leave a long tail for joining the pieces together.
Size : 44cm tall approximately from the top of their ears to their little round bottoms. This does not
include their legs, measurements are when seated. Sizing will vary depending on individual tension
and stuffing.
Abbreviations
Sl st = Slip Stitch
Ch = Chain
Dc = Double Crochet
St(s) = Stitch(es)
Dc2tog = Double crochet 2 together (Insert hook into stitch and draw up a loop. Insert hook into
next stitch and draw up a loop. Yarn over and draw through all 3 loops. This is a decrease.

Body & Neck
This is crocheted from the bottom up to the neck. Starting with the colour you have chosen for the
trousers….
Starting in the Back Loops of Round 35….join in the colour you wish to use for the rabbits

37 Dc into each st, into the back loops of Round 35 each st (72sts)
38 (Dc in next 10 sts, dc2tog), repeat to the end of the round (66sts)
39 Dc in each st (66sts)
40 Dc in each st (66sts)
41 (Dc in next 9 sts, dc2tog), repeat to the end of the round (60sts)
42 Dc in each st (60sts)
43 (Dc in next 8 sts, dc2tog), repeat to the end of the round (54sts)
You wish to start to stuff the body from this point, adding a little more as you go from now on.

Cut yarn (leaving a long tail), and draw through loop to finish. You will be using the long tail of yarn
to join the head to the body later.
Head
The head is worked from the top of the head to the neck. Start with the colour you have selected for
the rabbit.
You may wish to attach safety eyes at this point. We suggest attaching them into round 15
and approximately 8 sts apart. Start to stuff your rabbit from this point, adding a little more
as you go from this point onwards.

32 ( Dc in next 10 sts, dc2tog) repeat to the end of the round ( 66sts)
33 ( Dc in next 9 sts, dc2tog) repeat to the end of the round ( 60sts)
34 ( Dc in next 8 sts, dc2tog) repeat to the end of the round ( 54sts)
35 ( Dc in next 7 sts, dc2tog) repeat to the end of the round ( 48sts)
36 ( Dc in next 6 sts, dc2tog) repeat to the end of the round (42sts)

Fasten off, weaving yarn tail through sts.Finish stuffing so that the head is quite firm and
achieves the shape you like.
Muzzle
Start with the colour you have selected for the rabbit’s muzzle.
Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew muzzle to head. Stuff the muzzle and sew to head. The
muzzle is an oval shape…..take care when sewing that this oval is positioned lengthwise
across the face.
Nose
Start with the colour you have selected for the rabbit’s nose.
Ears (Make 2)
Start with the colour you have selected for the rabbit’s ears

6 - 15 Dc in every st (30sts)
16 (Dc in next 3 sts, dc2tog) repeat to the end of the round (24sts)
17 - 27 Dc in every st (24sts)
28 ( Dc into next 2 sts, dc2tog) repeat to the end of the round (18sts)
29 Dc in every st (18sts)
30 Close opening with 9 dc
Cut yarn leaving a long tail and draw through loop to finish. Fold ear and sew to the head. Ear
placement, like the eyes, can change the character and expression so have fun with it!
Arms ( Make 2)
Cut yarn (leaving a long tail), and draw through loop to finish. Attach arms in an appropriate position
on the body by sewing them into place.
Legs ( Make 2)
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing legs to the body.
Feet ( Make 2)

7 - 10 Dc into every st (36 sts)
11 ( Dc into next 4sts, dc2tog) repeat to the end of the round (30sts)
12 - 15 Dc into every st (30 sts)

You may also wish to start stuffing from this point adding a little more as you go
25 ( Dc into next 2sts, dc2tog) repeat to the end of the round (18sts)
26 Dc into every st ( 18sts)
27 ( Dc into next st, dc2tog) repeat to the end of the round (12sts)
28 Dc2tog x 6 (6sts)
Cut yarn (leaving a long tail), and draw through loop to finish. Attach the legs to the top of the
foot by sewing through the visible line of stitches on the leg (round 5 of leg), where you have crocheted
into back loops only. This will enable the leg to sit on top of the foot neatly.
You can form toes by stitching through the top and bottom of foot with a small amount of
thread and pulling firmly.
Tail

For Merryweather and Earl, I have used the following shades of Stylecraft Special DK , 100g balls
of each of the main shade, with only a tiny amount used for the noses.

This pattern is a template and not prescriptive. You can make your rabbits individual by adding stripes, using
different colour ways and adding little touches such as pretty ribbon and trims. Have fun in creating your very
own little friend!
