Dear Dr. Saleque, On behalf of the CGIAR and its Challenge Program for Water and Food (CPWF) we would be honored to have you attend the Training Course on Theory of Change. Dr. Boru Douthwaite, Innovation and Impact Director, CGIAR Challenge Program on Water and Food and his team will facilitate the training. The CGIAR has an international program working in countries of Asia and Africa called the Challenge Program on Water and Food (CPWF). Under this program in Bangladesh and India three CGIAR centers: IRRI, WorldFish, International Water Management Institute (IWMI) along with IWM (Institute of Water Modeling) are leading these research programs to address issues faced by the people of the southern districts in Bangladesh as they relate to salinity increases and climate change. The two days Training will take place on 29-30 October, 2011 at the Hotel Lake Castle, House 1A, Road 68/A, Gulshan-2, Dhaka from 9 am onwards. A detailed program of Training Course is attached. CGIAR Challenge Program on Water and Food Ganges Basin Development Challenge Research for Development Program Training Course on `Theory of Change, 29-30 October 2011 Hotel Lake castle, Gulshan-2, Dhaka Day 1 Introductions and Workshop Expectations Coffee Drawing project problem trees, clarify project visions and identifying project outputs Lunch Presentation and comparison of project problem trees Understand that different groups produce different problem analyses of the same project and that combining them makes for stronger theory of change of CSISA and CPWF Ganges To clarify and communicate the rationale of CSISA and CPWF Ganges in terms of the problems the two programs are addressing, and how solving these problems will contribute to eventual impact Purpose Introduction to Theory of Change Participant introductions to each other and their expectations

Purpose Projects identify key relationship changes required to achieve impact, and identify concrete actions to bring them about
