    Test Guide
    When to Begin

    The more practice tests you complete and the more space there is
    between each practice test, the more you will improve.

    I recommend beginning preparation a year before your first official


    test, which you should complete by the end of your Junior year.
    How Often to Take a
    Practice Test

    Spend a month applying


    DuVal’s ABC strategies as
    you work through content.
    Then, take a practice test.
    You should be taking a
    practice test every month.
    From there, score your
    tests and review your
    results and the correct
    answers to clarify any
    misunderstandings.
    How many Times to take an
    Official Test

    I also recommend that you complete


    at least two official exams. The
    summer after your first test, continue
    to review all content while focusing
    on areas in need of growth. Then,
    take your second test before school
    starts. You do not want your exams to
    interfere with your college application
    season.
    My last recommendation is a test preparation
    book and Khan Academy to work through
    content and complete practice tests. You can
    also obtain free practice tests from the College
    Board and ACT websites.
