What is a
landform?
Landforms are a recognizable,
natural feature of Earth’s surface
that have a characteristic shape.
Volcano
a mountain with a crater in
which lava , rock fragments,
hot vapor, and gases are
being or have been erupted
from Earth’s crust
Mountain
an elevated portion of
the Earth’s crust, with
sloping sides and a peak
Canyon
a deep gorge, typically
one with a river flowing
through it
Plain
a large area of flat
land with very little
amount of trees
Valley
a low area of land
between mountains,
typically with a river
flowing through it
Hill
a naturally raised area of
land, but not quite as high
or jagged as a mountain
Plateau
an area of relatively
level high ground
Island
a piece of land
surrounded by water
