(Note: write a content Prepare by yourself)

TOOL DESCRIPTION

The concept attainment test developed by Dr. Anuradha Joshi and Ratanmala Arya, the test was

The tool is prepared to measure the concept attainment ability of a person. Concept attainment is a an
ability of cognition. To develop the personality of an individual and to communicate well, this ability
plays an important role. Even for scholastic achievement it is also important.

RELIABILITY AND VALIDITY OF THE TEST

Reliability of the test of concept attainment was determined by test-retest method. The test –retest
refers to consistency of scores obtained by the same individual when re-examined with the same test on
different occasions. The correlation coefficient was found to b e 0.74. The correlation coefficient is quite
high and is significant at 0.1 level of significance

The validity of the test was determined by three methods, like content validity, face validity and
concurrent validity. The concurrent validity was found to be 0.42. it is low because the test of concept
formation has different types of items and items are not based on similarity of content.

METHODOLOGY

AIM: To assess the school student’s cognitive process of concept attainment

PLAN: To measure process of concept attainment in the subjects within the age group of 14 to 18 years
by administering the concept attainment test developed by Dr. Anuradha Joshi and Ratanmala Arya.

MATERIAL REQUIRED:

 Concept attainment test developed by Dr. Anuradha Joshi and Ratanmala Arya.
 Norms and scoring keys
 Stop clock

PROCEDURE:

The experimenter has to select the subject belongs to the age group of 14 to 18 years. The subject
(Student) is seated comfortably and establishes a rapport and gives clear instruction about the
experiment and demonstrates the way of answering to the question by using the sample problems and
how to mark in the response sheet. The subject is instructed the nature of items- reasoning and related
concept. etc. as the experiment stated the stop clock should be on to observe the time taken. The
subject is given a question booklet to solve and derive answer to the problem, by choosing a right
answer from the alternative given below the question and tick (√) the corresponding answer. The
subject has been given only 40 minutes to complete the task. After the completion of responses the
answer sheet have to be collected and proceed further analysis and interpretation of level of concept
attainment by using keys and norms. The raw scores were converted into Z-score with the help of z
table in manual and the same will be used for find the level of the subject ‘concept formation ability.

INSTRUCTION

“Here is the booklet to assess your level of concept attainment ability by using 38 problems, with four
parts , chose the right response. Open the first page of booklet and read the instruction given in the
front sheet for more clarity, if you have any doubts clarify with me. And try to solve the sample question
for practice. Your answers have to be recorded in response sheet given. Try to answer to the entire
question with in the time limit of 40 minutes.
POINT TO ANALYSIS

The subject’s responses were scored with the help of scoring key

The raw scores are converted into Z- score and the same converted into level of concept attainment of
the subject
