WRITE UP ON THE COMPLETED ACTION RESEARCH TITLED “LEVEL OF

PARTICIPATION OF STAKEHOLDERS IN SCHOOLS ACTIVITIES AMID PANDEMIC AND
ITS IMPACT TO ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE

The basic framework of a quality education system is one that succeeds in meeting the
individual school desired goals and outcomes: one that is relevant to the needs of the students,
communities and society; and one that fosters the ability of students to acquire knowledge and
the needed 21st century skills (Stone, Bruce, and Hursh). The key reform thrust 1 of the Basic
Education Sector Reform Agenda (BESRA) which is the School Based Management
underscores the empowerment of key stakeholders in school communities to enable them to
actively participate in the continuous improvement of schools towards the attainment of higher
pupils’ learning outcomes.
This action research made use of the descriptive research design which is a type of
research design that aimed to systematically obtain information to describe a phenomenon,
situation or population. It helps answer what, when, where and how questions regarding the
research problem rather than why. (Voxco, 2021)
After the checking and approval of the research proposal and through a memorandum,
the researcher immediately conducted the study. She administered the questionnaires to the
targeted respondents and begun to gather other data needed. Proposals were also drafted and
communicated to the division office, office of the PSDS and finally to the school and
stakeholders.
This study focused in determining the level of participation of stakeholders and its impact
to the over-all academic performance of the pupils in Rawis Elementary school for the School
Year 2021-2022. It specifically aimed at finding out the level of participation of stakeholders
along the various programs, projects and activities. It also investigated on the impact on the
level of academic performance of the pupils and the significant relationship between the
participation of the stakeholders in the performance of the school.
The researcher found out that there is only 50.57% of parents and stakeholders
participated in all the activities and programs and projects of the school and very low
participation rate in the modular distance learning amid pandemic school. It was also noted that
the overall performance of the pupils was only 49.96% as revealed in their computed mean of
the over-all performance in periodic test.
In view of the findings, the Project R-A-W-I-S (Recognizing Active and Well-Initiated
Support) Was proposed and launched as an action research intervention. It aimed to recognize
the efforts made in academics and leadership by the pupils, inspire non-performing pupils to
strive and emulate the performing ones, to increase the parents’ participation in the modular
distance learning and to increase academic performance of the pupils through the Silent Search
for Active Parents in Rawis ES.
Several stakeholders were tapped and partnered to realize the aims and goals of the
study. Planning conferences were done, formulation and validation of the rubrics to be followed

was done also to ensure the accurate and proper implementation of the project. Activity
proposal was done and coordinated with the division office.
The researcher also sells the approved innovation to fellow school heads and luckily,
there were 4 who bought in the said innovation.
The goal of completing the action research doesn’t ended in the hard binding and
submission to the division office. The researcher opted to have it published through the help of
the SDO Planning and Research Unit and it was included in the volume 5 of the Division Journal
which was published December 2023 in the Book of Abstract on Basic and Action Researches.
The researcher became also a BERF Grantee wherein she was granted thirty-thousand
pesos (30,000.00) which she utilized to complete her study from its proposal up to completion.
As ways forward, the researcher was able to disseminate here action research in the
school, to the community and it was also presented during state of the school addresses and
district meetings.
As closing statement, indeed, action research involves taking actions to improve
teaching and learning practices and collecting data to measure the impact of those actions.
