Operational training …Engine setups

Apex provides Engine operational training AT APEX for research scholars and students
who intend to work with engine setups available at the institutes. This training is also
useful to maintenance staff or lab assistants of the existing customers. This document
describes various points covered during training.

1 Components Setup assembly: Engine, starter, piezo sensor & cable, propeller
shaft, dynamometer, load cell with shielded cable,
encoder/proximity sensor, base frame, fuel pump, calorimeter,
RTDs & thermocouples
Engine panel: Fuel tank, fuel & air transmitter, air box with orifice,
fuel metering tube, manometer, temp transmitters, power supply,
NI USB with communication cable, digital voltmeter/ temp
indicator, piezo powering unit / RPM indicator, Load indicator,
rotameters, pump. Strainer, dashboard , throttle unit, ECU,
Other: Engine head(petrol mode), valve rods
2 Nut bolts which need Foundation bolts, Engine fitting bolts, Dynamometer fitting bolts,
regular checkup Propeller shaft bolts
3 Greasing and lubrication Grease nipples of propeller shaft
points Greasing points of dynamometer
Engine oil: Level stick, Drain plug, filling point.
4 Adjustments TDC adjustment / Proximity gap adjustment
VCR principle & adjustment (refer sticker),
Valve setting (refer sticker)
Fuel injection point and pressure adjustment (refer sticker)
Diesel to Petrol / Petrol to Diesel conversion
5 Water circuit Strainer cleaning, Rotameter tube cleaning, Tube replacement
Cooling water for Piezo adaptor
6 Air circuit Air box , Orifice meter, Manometer water filling,
Air duct pipe, Air Leakage, exhaust
7 Fuel circuit Fuel filling, Fuel cock position, Fuel transmitter, Air removal, Fuel
pump & filter, Injector, Throttle position sensor (TPS), Piezo sensor
for Diesel Injection
