Leak Detection

To check your entire home for leaks, shut off all water using devices (sinks, showers, dish and clothes
washing machines, toilet flushing, irrigation and auto fill pools and spas). Proceed to your water meter to
see if the dial is moving. If it is, you have a leak somewhere. If not, you most likely have no leaks.

Indoors

 Check for leaks by listening for the toilet “running” when it hasn’t recently been flushed or use a
dye tablet. (contact City of La Verne Water Customer Service if you need some)
 Check faucets, shower heads, pipes under sink and around toilets for leaks.
 Convert your toilets to High Efficiency Toilets
 Add aerators to faucets, reducing flow.
 Convert shower heads to low flow shower heads
 Check pipes to washing machine and dishwasher for leaks.
 Convert your washing machine to a certified high efficiency washer.
