An artistic-creative training course on right-

wing extremism and nationalism in Europe”

Training course in Hagen, Germany

03.-08.09.2023
Democracy is currently being threatened in many European
societies by enemies of democracy. Fundamental rights are
undermined and restricted, populist opinions are spread and
fears are fueled in order to push through anti-democratic
views and misanthropic attitudes. Populist parties offer
simple solutions to complex issues with the aim of
scapegoating certain groups and dividing society.

We therefore want to deal with these forms of right-wing

extremism and nationalism in Europe in a training course.
And we want to develop strategies against this movement
and test options for action. In this context, we will work with
theater-pedagogical and musical elements in addition to the
content-related inputs and implement the ideas that have
arisen artistically and creatively.

And we would like to invite your organization to participate.

Arrival is on Sunday, September 3rd, the training starts with a
joint dinner at 6 p.m. The project ends on September 8th
after breakfast.
The training is aimed at youth workers from Armenia,
Georgia, Germany, Poland, Greece and Turkey.

We were able to win two experts who have been working in

this field for a long time as trainers. Gandhi Chahine is a
director and drama teacher, lyricist, singer, musician,
screenwriter, editor and empowerment trainer and works on
the topics of racism and discrimination, participation and
democracy. He has already written over 30 music theater
pieces and given over 700 concerts all over Europe, has
worked with the Goethe Institutes in Belgium, Italy and
France and is active as a producer. The other trainer is
Sascha Schmittutz - a specialist in the topics of racism,
extremism, democracy promotion, de-escalation and "queer".
In addition, he develops anti-discrimination courses for
adults and young people and is involved in numerous
programs against right-wing extremist activities.

We invite three young people from each organization, who

must be at least 18 years old and preferably have experience
in youth work.
The project will take place in the nice and cozy youth
Center of Intercultural Education Berchum (ZIBB),
Ergster Weg 59. 58093 Hagen.
