HYDRAULIC OIL OFF-LINE FILTER

Hydraulic Oil Off-line Filter increases filter
availability
Mechanical operation of an Outotec Larox Pressure
Filter is based on hydraulics. Failures in the hydraulic BENEFITS
systems can cause serious production breakdowns. • Impurity level down

• Increased availability
Approximately 80 % of all the failures in the hydraulic • Maximized production
systems are due to oil contamination. There are several
sources of contamination both inside and outside the
system. The oil itself - even the new oil - usually con-
tains some amount of impurities. During repairs and
maintenance the normally closed system is exposed
to contamination. Inside the system, wear and age-
ing generates fine metal particles. All in all, the more
challenging and dusty the operating environment, the
higher the risk of oil contamination.

Sources of contamination

Fine particles and impurities are hardly visible to the

eye. However, their presence has serious consequences:
abrasion, erosion and corrosion of the hydraulic system,
leading to component malfunction, premature wear,
reduced efficiency, leakages and breakdowns.

Less impurities
An additional off-line filter is an easy and cost-efficient
way to minimize risks related to oil contamination.
Continuous, efficient filtration ensures excellent oil clean-
liness, and the cleanliness level is easier to check thanks
to the practical sampling valve. Improved cleaning results
in a prolonged oil change interval.

Short payback period

The most important result of the cleaner oil is the
increased reliability of the entire hydraulic system. Short
and long term pay-off is assured as the investment in an
additional off-line filter is small compared to the mainte-
nance and downtime costs of hydraulic system failures.
Cost savings can be easily calculated.

The scope of delivery

• Off-line filter designed to be used as an additional
filter in the hydraulic systems of Outotec Larox Pres-
sure Filters
• The filter is supplied as a complete, ready to be
installed unit with motor, pumps and sampling valves
• Filter media optimized either for water or particle
removal. The right media will be chosen according to
the main impurity problem of your production envi-
ronment for maximized results
• Optionally an optical measurement unit can be
installed to off-line filter for continuous monitoring of
particulate contamination in hydraulic system

Good to know
• Outotec cleanliness requirement for hydraulic oil is
16/13, ISO 4406 or class 7, NAS 1637. The off-line
filter helps to keep the oil cleanliness at the required
level.
• New oil also contains impurities. The offline filter can
be used for the filtration of the new oil when filling
the reservoir.
• Installation is quick and requires only a few hours
downtime. It can be scheduled with a planned main-
tenance break. Outotec is at your service to take care
of the installation.

Outotec offers:
• Maximum availability
• Minimum operating costs
• Optimum process results
• Safety in operations
