Purao Las Agua

Purao or “Dalisay” means Pure, the Purao one of historic battle of the Ilokanos’ bravery and
fighting to colonizer (Spaniards). Now the Purao known as Balaoan City in Ilocos Region.

Las Agua means water because La union considered as the surfing capital of the Northern
Philippines also known for consistent intermediate quality surf and two surfing seasons from July to
October and November to March.

Purao Las Agua name of mixed-use hotel based on the concept, which is wave where the San
Juan, La Union known as surfing capital of Northern Philippines. Waves pattern is most seen when
looking at the ocean from above. From the design perspective, this pattern helps to increase edge which
in turn increases overall productivity.

The form of the building based on shape of the waves wherein

another example of Fibonacci sequence. Waves is curled and is closer together
just like the number in the sequences get smaller as you get the closer to the
middle of swirl. Based on the owner the building should present innovation in
the building morphology. So, the designer inspiration is wave of ocean that
example of Fibonacci sequences. Generally, the shaped of the building is four rectangular layers upon
layer which one rectangular become smaller per layer. Façade of building have louver that from the
pattern of water. Also, the materials are glass that like water which colorless.

- Aesthetics – the mixed-used hotel designed with natural attractiveness of the surrounding.
- Building material – correct construction materials for long term durability and consistency
- Light and ventilation – maximize the natural light and provide proper ventilation
- Sustainability – reducing consumption of non-renewable resources and create healthy,
productive environment.
- Comfort – the user has comfortable personals space
- Circulation – proper circulation of the user considering public and private spaces.
- Mood/ambiance – the designed connected to nature that bring relaxation to user
