 ABOUT PARTEX

PARTEX MARKING SYSTEMS was founded in 1948 by Tore Lööf in Gullspang Sweden. Since the beginning we
have engaged in the production of complete marking systems and cable accessories.

Many of our clients know that Partex is a Swedish company and that we introduced the most popular one-
character marker, the PA-Marker. But you should know that our offer is much wider. This catalogue will be a
useful guide to the world of cable ties, terminations, tooling and cable management products.

Starting from a small High Street ofice in 1965 we have grown continuously. Today, still based in Coleshill
near Birmingham, we operate from a state of the art 24,000 sq ft facility. Originally trading as an independent
company, we were acquired by the Partex group in 1991 and are their oldest subsidiary.

 STANDARDS AND CERTIFICATES

To ensure that all of our products meet the same consistent high quality standard, we subject them to a series of exacting tests, both in-house and at
independent test laboratories. This ensures they meet the requirements of the relevant International Standards, such as BS EN and UL certiication.

In our UK test laboratory we have equipment that enables us to perform mechanical force tests up to 30KN which means that we can test to destruction
our full range of cable terminations, and cable management products.

We are able to provide test reports and calibration certiicates upon request.

We can also perform a moisture content inspection on our range of Nylon products to ensure they are perfectly conditioned, strong, lexible and durable.

In line with our ISO9001 certiication we operate a strict stock rotation system to ensure that all products reach you in perfect condition.

To meet the requirements of our ISO14001 environmental standard, we strive to minimise our impact upon the environment at all stages of our business
activities.

11.10.6 Cable protection tiles

Cable protection tiles shall be made of either pre-cast remfbrccd concrctc red coloured or
PVC. The prckrrcd d~mcnsronsfor concrete tiles shall be 350 mm w ~ d ex 600 111111long x 50
mn thick. The PVC tiles shall be 1000 m n long x 300 mm wide. 'I'he th~cknessof PVC tiles
shall bc 6. 8 or 12 111111as spec~fiedIn the Project Speclficatmn. The grade concrete f'or
concrete t~lcsshall be C35 as pcr Q P standard specification for Civil Works Vol.1
1 1.10.7 Cable-tie/ cable-tie base
Cable-tie/ cable-tie base shall be made of PVC coatcd stainless slccl. Cable ties sl~allhave
self-locking head.
Cable-tie base shall be provided with suitable arrangcmcnt for mountmg with necessary
screws etc
1 1.10.8 Support material
Support steelwork shall be either prefabricated or site hbricated type. The option i.e.
prehhricatcd or site fabricated and their sizes shall be as stated in the Project Specilication.
The prefabricated support material if made of mild steel shall be galvanised. The site
fabricated supporting and installation matcrial shall be painted in accordance with QP
standard QP-SPC-L-002 1.51.
11.1 1 Earthing Materials

Earth bar shall be of tinned copper of minimum size 50 mil x 6 mnnl. A bar length of 750 nun
shall allow a maximum of nine earthing connections. 12 mm dia, holes shall be provided in
the cart11 bar for the earth connections. The holes shall be complete with 10 111111 bolts, nuts
and sprlng washers of 3 l6SS material. Earth bus shall be supplied with mounting insulators,
test links and instnllation hardware etc.
1 1.11.2 Earthing conductor
Earthing conductor shall be single core, stranded annealed copper conductors with a
grecn/ycllow PVC outer sheath.
?'he cross sectional area of the earthing conductors shall be as mentioned in the Project
Spcci fication.
11.11.3 Connectors
Conductors shall be joined in the ground using either tinned copper crimped connector or
exothermic weld as specified in thc Project Specification. Exolhcrtnic welds shall be supplied
with adequate number of moulds for nzaking the requisite number of joints.
Abovc ground connections1 terminations shall be made using crimping type tinned copper
lugs either on earth bus or on equipment cart11 tcnninal.
1 1.1 1.4 Earth clcctrodcs
The earth clcctrodes shall be of either 17 nim dia. threaded copper clad steel rods or 50 mm
dia. galvanised steel pipes as specified in the Project Specification. The cart11 clcctrodes shall
be supplied in standard lengths of 3 ni with couplers, driving studs, driving spikes. The
required length of the earth electrode, based on design requirement, sl~allbe obtained by
coupling the 3 m long electrodes with each other.

(7) Cable glands shall be provided w ~ t hcart11 tag, locknut and sealing washer as
appltcable to n~aintainthe ingress protection rating. Shrouds shall be made of PVC'
for indoor application and PCP Tor outdoor applications.
(8) Stopper plugs for sealmg the unused cablc cntrics on enclosures shall have same
explosion protection as well as material that of cable glands used on the respectwe
enclosures.

11.9.3 11V cable terminations
The 11V cablc tcrmination kits shall be heat shrink typc or clastiriiold type as specified in the
Prqject Spccilication, These shall conform to the following requircmcnls:
(1) The HV cable terniination kits shall have high resistance to humidity, chemicals and
dust under electrical stress conditions. The polymer used shall have excellent non-
tracking characteristics.
(2) 'I'he cablc ternination kits shall be complete with all acccssorics like cable break out,
corc insulation sleeves, stress control tubing, sheds, sealant tapes, insulating boots
earthing kits ctc. as required for the termination of the cablc typc and s i x spccified
in the Project Specification.
(3) 'I'he termination kits shall be suitable for the type o r tcrmination likc indoor or
outdoor as specified in thc Projcct Specification.
(4) Thc termination kits shall be of appropriate size suilablc Ibr Ihc cross-section of
cables andor size of cable termination box. The voltage rating and shorl time current
rating shall be as specified in the Project Spccilication.
(5) All single core ternination kits shall be supplicd as set of three kits.
11.9.4 Cable jointing kits
(1) 'I'he jointing kits shall be suitable for outdoor underground application.
(2) The jointing kits shall bc heat shrinkable type for both HV and I,V cable jointing
(3) The kits sliall be complete with standard accessories namely heal shrinkable
insulation sleeves, crimping typc coilricctors (ferrules), armour and screen jointing
clamps etc. supplied with kit by the cablc manuhclurcr for jointing of XLPE
insulated, armourcd, screened 11V power cables and XLPE insulated, armoured 1,V
Power and control cables. Kits shall be suitable for jointing the cable sizes and types
specitied in the Projcct Specification.
11.10 Cable Laying Materials
I 1.10.1 C'able trays and ladders
The Cable trays, ladders and accessories shall be of one of the fbllowing materials as
spccified in the Project Specification:

Heavy duty, flamc rctardanl, 1IV resistant Glass Reinforced Polyester (GRP)
