CommCareTraining Plan – Scale-up of Pilot Site

Dimagi recommends the following training plan for a scale-up of CommCare by community
health workers. On this page, the chart below indicates the specific tasks required for a
CommCare training and the estimated task duration, where applicable.

The plan is divided for different phases: Pre-training (on and off site), Training (schedule per
day) and Post-Training.

Assumptions:

1. Application is composed of two modules (maximum of 10 forms)


2. Network provider has been identified. Mobile phones, SIMs and memory cards have been
procured.
3. A CommCare pilot has been conducted, and we are starting with a base of approximately
10 Master ASHAs who are experts in the use of CommCare and can support new trainee
ASHAs. The Project Coordinator and Manager are experienced in deploying CommCare.
Field Staff have observed use of CommCare in the field, are experienced in supporting
ASHAs use the application and have some technical training for troubleshooting.
4. One batch refers to a training group of 20-30 new CHWs.

(e) Train Child Module – Height and Weight (Content only, skip logic)

3. Open Mother Registration Form <1 min
 Purpose: to register pregnant women into CommCare Dimagi
and create due list
4. Review all questions one by one, demonstrate skip logic. Dimagi 30 min
 Notice that when you open this form, you don’t see a
case list. This is because we are creating a name here. If
we fill this form, a new name will be generated in all of
your case lists.
 Specific instructions about typing dates (must enter 0 for
single digit months and dates)
 Mention the importance of this date:
o EDD is calculated based on LMP.
o Cannot enter before today
o Pay attention to year.
o Skip logic is dependent on this date to work
correctly.

 Repeat once again.
5. Ask two pilot ASHAs to stand-up and share their experience 20 min
about learning how to complete the registration and type on the
phone.
 Learn by practicing in demo mode

 Purpose: to fill out during Immunization day every
month. In the beginning, you will have to update the PARTNER
child’s complete known history first. Then, questions
will display according to age (in months).
18. Review all questions one by one, demonstrate skip logic. 15 min
 Cycle back to case detail view to show updates. PARTNER

 Purpose: to fill out during MCHN day every month. PARTNER
Start filling out this form on the next MCHN day.
21. Review all questions one by one. No skip logic, all questions are 10 min
required.
 Work with Anganwadi worker to use the Gradation PARTNER
Chart.

 Purpose: to close out child cases after 2 years completed, Dimagi
