FOREWORD

The purpose of praying in the Blessed Sacrament is to improve ourselves, our inner selves and enhance
and strengthen our relationship with God and by adding fasting to our prayers we reinforce our faith,
trust and beliefs.

Miracles occur in our lives, Isaiah 45:1-2 the double doors are opened and crooked places are
straightened, shut doors are snapped open. Faith moves mountains and with fervent prayers and
petitions the hand of God and presence is deeply felt. Sparing ample time to spend with Jesus Christ for
some minutes, hours and even a day or days is a prudent thing to do as a Christians as to
learn, know, converse with him in prayer and to experience his unconditional love.

James 4:8 AS we draw near to him he draws near to us. Starting to make progress is by believing that
with the prayers we pray we will be answered and in due time we are able to proclaim as in Isaiah 45:5-7
For I am the Lord and there is no other, there is no God besides me.I will gird you, though you have not
known me.I am the Lord and there is no other, I form the light and create darkness, I make peace and
create calamity, I, the Lord do all these things. He is the same God who will bring blessings and curses in
your life, wealth and poverty in your life, happiness and depression in your life. Our relationship with him
is the determining factor whether we will be cheerful and gratified Christians.

I would urge Christians to make it a habit of making frequent visitations to the perpetual Eucharistic
adoration chapel because it’s a powerful time of prayer and healing if done consistently.
INTRODUCTION

Jesus Christ is the most celebrated figure who ever walked the face of the earth. No one has ever
surpassed his status and he was a phenomenal who healed, cured, exorcised demons and performed
numerous miracles during his days on earth.

Humans have no slight idea how Jesus Christ of Nazareth resembled.Archaeological remains and even
historical texts depict him as a dark haired and olive brown skin man because of his Jewish ancestry with
perhaps a long flowing (dreadlocked) and a long beard. No one has conclusive evidence of his
appearance.

But what does the bible state about Jesus as prophet Isaiah cites in Isaiah: 1-12 For he grew up before
him like a young plant and like a root out of dry ground, he had no form or majesty that we should desire
him. He was despised and rejected by men, man of sorrows and acquainted with grief, as on from whom
men hide their faces, he was despised and we esteemed him not. Surely he has borne our grief, carried
our sorrows, yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our
iniquities, upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace and with his wounds we are healed.

From my point of view or any other reader’s point of view, every race today, Negroid, Caucasian,
mongoloid and Australoid would have wished that Jesus was one of their own, but that is
inconsequential, God does not look at man’s appearance or at the height of his stature but at the heart.1
Sam 16:7

The key word here in Isaiah 53:1-12 is HEALED!! By his stripes we are healed. From Isaiah’s vision or
prophecy if he had an opportunity to expound more Jesus countenance, the vain perennial debate of
portraying Jesus in a certain way to prove racial superiority could not have existed. If we can critically
attempt to ponder which race has been rejected and despised by men and esteemed not, then we can
derive closer to an answer.

Most significant issue is that a saviour, a messiah was prophesied to be born in the coming years and he
would be the real hope for the whole universe. He is the representation of all races existing and
exterminated. The Jewish people expectation was that Christ was to be the king and ruler and conqueror
but were later amazed his mission was different, he was conversant with the worldly
tribulations, suffered immensely and despite all the distress he went through never ever complained. He
was the branch of Jesse, treated with contempt, oppressed, scorned and mocked by the same people who
claimed to be scribes and religious leaders who taught the word to the ordinary masses with gusto and
candour. They were not aware that this was the redeemer, saviour and messiah who was prophesied
aeons ago and that he was to to reign and judge all the nations, tongues, tribes and races and they shall
bow before him, confess and worship him.
WHY JESUS IN THE BLESSED SACRAMENT?

Christians today will ask numerous questions why Jesus is so important in our lives and why we should
spare our time to watch and pray with him for only an hour as he did in the garden of Gethsemane.

Do I really need Jesus in my life if I do not describe myself as a Christian or a church goer? We need him
because we do not intend to lose our salvation and we need also to believe and trust in him. Our faith in
him should strengthen us and thus we ought to pray, read the scriptures, worship and adore him and
spread his gospel to the furthest corners of the world. Jesus said in John 16:23-24 ‘’on that day you will
not question me about anything, truly, truly,I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in my name He
will give it to you. Until now you have asked nothing in my name, ask and you shall receive, so that your
joy may be full’’

Jesus wants us to ask him for anything but with faith and believing that we will get whatever we want!!

Those with deadly diseases are getting healed!

Those who are homeless are becoming homeowners!

Those who were once famished to death are now big hotel owners!

Those who were once naked are now owners of fashion stores!

The prisoner who was once locked up in jail is now a free man who moves around the world preaching
the gospel of the Lord in Jesus' mighty name!!

Those who don’t believe that miracles happen are faithless lot whose trust waivers like the stubborn sea
that never settles.

When we pray it’s our obligation to be very specific about what we are praying for!

God wants you to be clear when you approach him in prayer, if you want a house to be specific, if it’s a
car be specific because we have different models.

Luke 1:37

For nothing will be impossible with God.

WHY WATCH AND PRAY?

When Jesus went to the garden of Gethsemane he took Peter, John and James with him. The significance
of him doing so was to prepare for what was coming in the next hour and it was incredible, the disciples
fell asleep instead of playing along. Indeed the spirit was willing but the mortal flesh was so weak!
Mathew 26:41 Watch and pray that you will not fall into temptation.

Jesus returned to the disciple and found them sleeping and said to Simon ‘’what! ’Could you not watch
with me for one hour?

Note Jesus exclamation he is astonished, in agony, depressed and in profound sorrow, the three have not
been watching and praying with him, they did not know what was about to happen, they would even
scatter and one of them was about to deny him in fear of being tortured. The cup he was to drink from
perturbed him to the point of death.

Did Jesus fear death that he was asking the father to remove the cup? It was not easy, a man in the
garden was sweating blood and profusely, it was not easy carrying the human kind burden of sins on his
shoulders in the name of love.

In the perpetual Eucharistic adoration chapel it’s time to watch, console and pray with Jesus for the one
hour he was in excruciating agony that he went through. He only wants your time to grow closer to him
because he knows your pains, sorrows, failures and whatever you go through. This intimacy is very
crucial in that you are looking at him and him at you. Meditate, pray the rosary and listen cautiously to
the inner speaking voice!!

That voice you hear belongs to Jesus.

HOW TO PRAY IN THE BLESSED SACRAMENT

There is no better way to pray, there are diverse ways of praying.

The disciples asked Jesus, how should we pray and he showed them how but by reciting the lord’s
prayer-Mathew 6:5-15

The purpose of the prayer was to urge the disciples to pray short and meaningful prayer and avoid
babbling like the gentiles.

● a prayer that addresses the father

● Worship the father
● Acknowledges the father
● Requesting the father and
● Confessing to the father

Prayers can be reinforced with fasting .We have short and long fasts. One can begin with half day fast if
they feel they lack endurance and remember when fasting you are not starving yourself to death or even
embarking on a hunger strike, you are steadfastly and fervently in prayer and showing God that you
mean business and you need his ear.

Shut doors will be opened and crooked places will be made straight Isaiah 45:1-2.

● From morning to 3pm or 6pm or midnight to midday starting with confessions, past and present
sins, those you can recall and those you can’t recall, reading the scriptures is mandatory.
● Second day is thanksgiving, reading the scriptures as usual and meditate on the word
● Third day praise followed with reading the scriptures
● Fourth day worship and adoration followed with scripture reading
● Up to the day you intend to break your fast whether you are doing a dry, partial fast

Once this is faithfully done it should be a cultivated habit that’s practised to make it a lifestyle and major
breakthroughs will be experienced in our lives. Remember also to plant a seed depending on the
situation and circumstances. The seed will yield its fruit in due time.
John 14:13-14

Whatever you ask in my name, that I will do so that the Father may be glorified in the son. If you ask
anything in my name I will it’’

Mathew 21:22

And all things you ask in prayer believing, trusting, you will receive’’

When Jesus was alive he told them that there was no need of fasting since he was around and the time
will come when they will do it.Now that the messiah was crucified and died on the cross for our course
there is every reason to pray and fast and get urgent results.

This is a major spiritual discovery in my life and feels other Christians can experience similar things.

Mark 9:29

‘’So he said to them this kind can come out by nothing but by prayers and fasting’’

If doing this can exorcise demons, it would be easier to pray and fast and get major breakthroughs in
Jesus' name pertaining to other life pressing issues. If this is conducted consistently it manifests into
triumphs, it’s the only way to demolish destructive powers acting as the devil's strongholds.

1 Thess 5:17-18

Pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
WHY THE WORD IS CRITICAL

John 1:1-3

In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God. He was in the
beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him nothing was made.

From the above it's clear that the old liar ,the accuser, the destroyer, the one who comes to steal our
blessings and replaces them with curses, the devil who establishes destructive strongholds in our lives
understands the strength of the word and that he knows the power of the word and that word is CHRIST
JESUS!!

The devil wants Christians to undergo tragedy, desperateness and despair to be the highlight of their
existence. The devil is very cunning and tricky, his tricks are very strategic, to ensure that Christians are
not well versed with the word and is working extra hard to lure many to his side and that devil knows
that time is very short .

Rev 12:12

Therefore rejoice ye heavens and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea!
For the devil is come unto you, having great wrath, because he knows that he hath but a short time.

Now the earth dwellers are in absolute trouble, the devil is insane with anger because he has been
expelled from the heavens and he is coming to devour those who are not vigilant of the word and their
actions. We are in a tough spiritual battle with the fallen angels. It’s catastrophic to go to battle without
the Christian armour which is the word.

The devil is to blind the minds of unbelievers so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays
the glory of Christ Jesus who is the image of God. In any dimension or perspective his intention is for you
to remain ignorant of the word and its glorious good news. We are wrestling not against flesh and blood
but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of the darkness of this world against spiritual
wickedness in the heavenly places.Eph 6:12-18

Our armoury as Christians include;

● The word
● The truth
● Righteousness and
● Faith
● Praying incessantly
● Being watchful

Christ as the king and Lord of Lords acts as the sword of the spirit and that is good tidings.

We rely on the word because it says that its God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting
and training in righteousness so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good
work. 2 Timothy 3:16. With the double edged sword which is the word the enemy will be kept at bay.
The word is to be used for countering the enemy, the god of this earth, his time is really short and his
eternal place is in the lake of fire. No one wants to share a swimming pool of brimstones with him on the
day of judgement.
VIRTUES

A virtue is a settled habit of mind or moral excellence that guides a man.

Christian Christ like virtues are;

● Faith
● Hope
● Love
● Wisdom
● Temperance
● Joy
● Courage
● Faithfulness and
● Peace.

Theological virtues include;

● Faith
● Hope and
● Charity

Cardinal virtues include;

● Prudence
● Justice
● Fortitude and
● Temperance

The gifts of the Holy Spirit include;

● Wisdom
● Understanding
● Counsel
● Knowledge
● Fortitude
● Piety
● Fear of the Lord

The fruits of the Holy Spirit which are;

● Love
● Joy
● Peace
● Patience
● Kindness
● Generosity
● Faithfulness
● Gentleness and
● Self-control

These should not be confused with the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

The three most important virtues are faith, hope and charity but the greatest of all these is love. Love
conquers all.

John 3:16 16

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him should not
perish but have everlasting life. Jesus was sent from heavenly abode full of bliss, glamour and all the
glory to the world to rescue mankind from eternal damnation. This simple gesture from our loving
gracious heavenly Father illustrates his incredible love for us.

All virtues are so essential and no virtue supersedes the other except the one and only ….Love

A LIST OF THINGS TO PRAY FOR

Since prayer is an intimate way of conversing to Almighty God, just imagine how marvellous it feels when
your prayer requests are answered especially if it’s taken ages for it to be fulfilled. You took your time
and effort, dedicated all your energy for a worthy request, one year the prayer remains unanswered,
second year, third, just when you are about to give up its answer!!

The Bible is crystal clear about praying. Our prayers should include the following;

1. Praying for safety (Mathew 24:19-20)

But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! And pray that
your flight will not be in winter or on Sabbath.

2. Praying that you don’t fall into temptation (Mathew 26:41)

Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing but the flesh is weak

3. Praying for a worthy higher calling (1 Thessalonians 1:11-12)

Therefore we also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all
the good pleasure of his goodness and the work of faith with power, that the name of our Lord Jesus
Christ may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus
Christ.

4. Praying for our enemies (Mathew 5:44-45)

But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray
to those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for he
makes his sunrise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

5. Praying for the ministry (Mathew 9:36-38)

But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary
and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then he said to his disciples ‘’the harvest truly is plentiful,
but the labourers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into his harvest.’’
6. Praying for the sick (James 5:13-16)

Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him,
anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord .And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will
raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Confess your trespasses to one another,
and pray for one another that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails
much.

7. Praying that we become worthy to evade the great tribulation (Luke 21:35-36)

‘’For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch therefore and
pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to
stand before the son of man.’’
