Introduction

The Proctor compaction test is a laboratory method used to experimentally

determine the optimum moisture content at which a given soil type becomes

densestand reaches maximum dry density. Dry density versus moisture

contentis then plotted graphically to form a compact curve.

Aim

This laboratory test is performed to determine the relationship

between moisture content and dry soil density at a given compaction

strength.
Materials

1. Manual rarmror
2. Graduated cylinder
3. Mold
4. Moisture cans
5. Sallopecimen
6. Trowel
7. Straight edge
8. Mixing pan

Procedure

1) 1. Through sieving the soil goes through CV #4

2) 2. Add 8 per cent water and mix

3) 3. Then add the soil to the mold in 3 times and 3 layers, after adding

each layer for 25 times through (Manual rarmror) compaction

4) 4. Remove the mold through a mechanical extruder

5) 5. Then take some for the WATER CONTENT test we put the sample in the

oven to get dried.
