in sentences.

Materials: White board and pictures.
Timing: 1 hour.

Consider the pictures and answer your teacher’s questions to complete the sentences with the
proper collective noun.

• How do we call the individuals in picture (1)?


• How do we call the individuals in picture (2)?
• How can we call the group in picture (1) and the group in picture (2)?

Key:
• We call the individuals in picture (1): players.
• We call the individuals in picture (2): poor people.
• We call the group in picture (1): The team. We call the group in picture (2): The poor.

Reminder:
A collective noun represents :
• A group of people (ex : the family), animals (ex : the herd), or objects (ex : the fleet).
• A group that shares the same quality.
Ex : The rich – the poor …etc.
• We usually use the article ‘ the’ before collective nouns to be specefic about which group we
are talking about.
