Two-Year- M.A. /M.Sc. in Disaster Studies (Executive Programme)

Location: RRU, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh
Intake: 20
Duration: 2 years (4 semesters)
Credit: 80
Course Fees- Rs 35,000/Semester
Application Fees- Rs 2000
Minimum Eligibility for joining the course: Bachelor Degree in any stream (with
min. 50% marks for General, EWS and 45% marks for SC/ST).

Masters in Disaster Studies

Rashtriya Raksha University aims at holistic Security, peace, prosperity, and strategy
for overall India’s National Security. Disaster’s increasing frequency and intensity have
been posing a significant threat to our country’s security and holistic development.
Therefore, India has not only ratified international Disaster Risk Reduction treaties but
has also developed robust institutional and legal arrangements for strategically
approaching Disaster risk management.

Hence, Disaster studies has become an emerging field with a high need for qualified
personnel within disaster management practice and research to justly implement
International and National policy-level visualization, such as the Sendai Framework for
DRR and the National Disaster Management Act of India.
In this regard, a first of its kind in the country, a two-year MA/MSc program in Disaster
Studies (Executive Program), offered by the RRU, Lucknow, aims to enhance knowledge,
capacities, skills, and perspective on emergencies and disasters, particularly for
working professionals, government servants, youth, and civilians from various sectors.
This weekend masters course will also provide for the needs of experienced emergency
and disaster management practitioners in appropriate fields and enhance their career
opportunities through a period of academic study.

Further, the program also fosters a critical perspective on disaster and current
approaches to disaster risk reduction, response, and recovery.
