engineering ,FACULTY OF MECHANICAL,KALINGA
UNIVERSITY .CHHATISHGARAH(RAIPUR).Is the authentic
work carried out by us under the guidance of Mr Sarat
Chandra Mohanty and MrAnup Kumar jana,lectrure
department of mechanical engineering.
WORKING PRINCIPLE

hydropower or hydroelectricity is a renewable source of energy

which utilizes the energy of fast-flowing of water to generate the
electricity .Initially the water is stored in a dam as it stand with
potential energy and we use its potential energy in order to
generate the electricity .here we arrage setup for increasing the
velocity of water and through this setup water passes through
many other equipment which are mentioned below.

There are other so many source of energy are available on this
planet but to operate them we need some special types of fuels in
order to produce electricity.Which also produces harmful
gas,radiation ,waste which is not good for us as well as for this
planet.Hydropower plant is one of the most sustainable renewable
source of energy with zero adverse effect for both of us also it
opparate with water wich is available in all over the world .
 COMPONETS OF THE HYDROPOWER PLANT

PENSTOKE

A penstock is a sluice or gate or intake

structure that controls water flow, or an
enclosed pipe that delivers water to hydro
turbines and sewerage systems

A forebay is a basin area of hydropower plant where water is temporarily stored before
going into intake chamber. The storage of water in forebay is decided based on required
water demand in that area. This is also used when the load requirement in intake is less

A water turbine is a turbine which makes the hydropower available. The energy of the water is
converted into rotational energy by means of the water turbine, which causes rotation of the turbine
shaft. This rotation is used to drive a generator to produce electrical energy. To achieve optimum
efficiency, the turbine must be adapted to the specific demands of the hydropower plant such as
different heads and flow rates
