Specification / Materials and Workmanship Specification (M&W) and associated approved drawings" and is fit for purpose.

Visual Inspections Pipe Brackets, Supports and Hangers


# Check Item Results
1 Are pipe brackets correctly installed as per the approved shop drawings
2 Check Fire Piping Brackets have no sharp edges and the galvanization
is not damaged
3 Pipe supports shall be provided at intervals as indicated on the approved
shop drawingsgs
4 The size of drop in anchors installed are as per the approved shop
drawings.
5 Brackets fixed to the structure have flat washer and nut
6 Brackets are sufficiently fixed onto the structure and it doesn’t move
when force equivalent to the pipe weight including water is applied
7 Hanger rods shall be of galvanized threaded steel and fitted with two
removable nuts at each end for positioning rod and hanger and locking
each in place
8 Hangers shall be placed close to the point of change of direction of a
pipe in either the horizontal or vertical plain

# Check Item Results
1 Pipes shall be supported independently from all equipment
2 The piping installation shall be neat and tidy with accurate spacing
between pipes, valves and joints, whether running in straight routes or
turning through bends as per the approved shop drawings.
3 All pipework shall be erected and secured truly parallel with the building
structure, clear of obstructions, preserving headroom and keeping
passageways clear and all vertical drops are plumb.
4 The pipe diameter and size are correct as indicated on the approved
shop drawings
5 Pipes are laid at the right location as indicated on the approved shop
drawings.
6 Pipes that are exposed shall be positioned at least 25mm from the
finished wall surface.
7 Pipes shall be fitted at 125mm or at least 100mm minimum clear of the
finished floor
8 Pipes are stable with correct verticality.
9 Pipes are correctly jointed. Up to 50mm by screwed joints. Above 50mm
flanged joints / Victaulic joints as indicated on the approved shop
drawings
10 Pipes are secured onto the brackets with U­bolts / neoprene pad and
tightened with washer and hex nuts.
11 Where pipes pass through walls and floors, pipe sleeves shall be
provided to allow free axial movement of the pipe.
12 Piping is all labeled / colour coded
13 Piping is correctly coated to protect from excessive corrosion or leaks.
Pipes shall be painted “RED” colour or banded “RED”

2 Pipes are earthed to main earth cable as indicated on the approved
shop drawings

Visual Inspection Valves

1 Check gate valves, drain valves and automatic vent valves are installed
as per the approved shop drawings
2 Valves or other heavy items of equipment shall be fitted as near as
practicable to a point of support or fitted with their own support
3 Drain valves shall be provided at all low points of the system or as
indicated on the approved shop drawings
4 Automatic or manual air vents valves shall be provided at each high
point of the water pipe with discharge pipes being terminated at 50mm
above the floor drain

1 Flexible pipe joints are the correct material and size as indicated on
approved shop drawings
2 Have they been installed in the correct locations as per the approved
shop drawings
3 Are correctly bolted together with pipe joints fitted
4 Check earth bonding is installed across the flexible connections
