5 sentence story (20st century literature project)

Born in a poor Filipino-household, during the Spanish- colonial period in mid 18 th century, a girl
named Corazon De Jesus is now used to her life as the daughter of her lowly parents, by having a bell-
ringer father, and a mother who vends vegetables around the undeveloped streets of their village.
Aware of the unfair treatment and the misogyny of the Spanish colonizers, she never expected how a
single instance would spark her will of overthrowing the foreign administration, and emergence as voice
for her Filipina sisters. These took place during her mother’s daily stroll, where she went as company,
unexpectedly they stumbled upon a Spanish guard, who later on asked them for permit, and by not
having it caused the guard to capture her mother, while throwing deep insults in regards of her gender
as a woman, which he expressed as useless, and stupid. That situation is what drove Corazon to thrive
and put an end to the unequal system, by the time she reached their home, she instantly stormed to the
library in a matter of seconds, and climbed through the broken window of the building, there she’s quick
to grab books, although most of it are unfamiliar to her, but what still drove her is the will to achieve her
purpose.
