Dear Sir,

Greetings!

We all know that a Cable Network in any plant is like blood-vessels in our body. And at the onset of re-
starting of industries all across India, we’re bringing to you the finest technological evolution so far, in the
cable diagnostic domain.

As we all know, earlier cables were tested with simple DC Hipot and now we all know that, not only does
it damage/harm the insulation of the cable, it is now not recommended by IEEE and other international
bodies.

Then came the VLF technology of diagnosing the cable, which tests the cables at 0.01 to 0.1 Hz frequency
whereas our Power Frequency is 50 Hz. Over the years, researchers found the adverse effects of this
technology as well, following are the main disadvantages :

- Being a signal generated at very low frequency, it does not manifest actual power conditions at
50 Hz. Results obtained at VLF and at Power Frequencies cannot be correlated in almost all the
cases.
- High possibility of cable failures, especially old cables, during VLF testing. If the cables don’t fail
during VLF, it surely develops faults which in turn reduce the life of cable.
- Destructive technology
- This technology does not charge the cable in a homogenous manner.

As the above issues started cropping up, researchers and scientists started working on the technology
called Damped AC Technology of diagnosing the cables. The benefits of DAC are immense, most notably :

- It creates Power Frequency scenario while testing the Cables, hence, we can be sure of the
performance of Cables at Power Frequency.
- Almost no possibility of cable failures during test and does not stress the cable
- Non-destructive technology
- Globally accepted as the new standard of cable testing and diagnostics

Please find attached herewith the following international documents and standards to corroborate the
above brief.

- Jicable-03 Paper C.8.2.8 : Application of Damped AC voltages for PD diagnosis of distribution

- Jicable-15 Paper C5.2 : Effective on-site testing and non-destructive diagnosis of new installed
and service aged (E) HV power cables up to 230 kV
- IEEE 400 – 2012
- IEEE 400.2-2004
- IEEE 400.4 - 2015

Apart from those points, various characteristics of the Diagnostics and Testing procedures are compared
as follows to understand the suitability.

From the above, we conclude that DAC is the latest technology and must be adopted to find out the
faults in cables in a non-destructive way.

Now, we’ll see which Companies manufacture such high-end technology and how do they differ.

Notably, there are 3 players who manufacture the DAC Systems. Onsite HV-Switzerland (the inventor of
DAC technology), OHV-Germany and Megger-UK. A detailed comparison chart is as below :

From the above, it’s clear that what pioneers of this technology offer, no one can. Due to the above facts,
we recently purchased a state-of-the-art 60 kV System from Onsite HV-Switzerland to cater to our
quality-centric and continuous-process-plant customers.

You’re most welcome to take the benefit of this latest technology, save your assets and plant from
breakdown, thus help the industry in maximising the revenue.

In case of any questions/queries, please contact us for more details.

Thanking you.
