Welcome to the vibrant Barangay Panganiban, formerly known as
"Dancalan," a place steeped in history and natural beauty. Discover the
rich tapestry of culture, history, and community that defines this
unique locality.
It is remembered that in 2019, typhoon Tisoy damaged the Tulay sa Tibo. The Gubat
municipal government's intervention allowed for the completion of the renovation in
2021. “Sa intero na kabataan na parte sini na re-opening san Tulay sa Tibo, tulay ini san
pag-asa na maiangat nato an turismo. An awareness, an pag-mantiner san ato
environment, nan ekonomiya. Diri lang ini sa turismo, pirmi ka-partner suon an pag-

People used to call the place "Dancalan" due to the abundance of
dancalan trees that dotted the shoreline. In 1950, it was declared a
barrio with Pio Esperida as the first Teniente del Barrio. Later on, it was
referred to as a purok when only 33 barrios were officially registered.
The poblacion barangay was divided into "puroks."

By virtue of R.A. No. 3590, the place was declared a barrio and named
Panganiban, in honor of a Bicolano World War II hero. The barangay
came to life in the early 1950s during the Magsaysay regime.
Panganiban was the site of a rock causeway aimed at converting the
town into a major seaport. Unfortunately, in 1968, Typhoon Welming
destroyed the structure, which had been partially damaged by previous
typhoons.
