BREAKING FREE
In December 2023, The Libon Private High School held a film
festival on the school premises starring The Grade 12 Department.
Each strand of the Grade 12 Department competes with their
portrayal of the character. Out of eight movies, I chose to watch the
Grade 12 Humms 1 film entitled "Breaking Free."

The film "Breaking Free" talks about betrayal, competition,

miscommunication, range, and companionship. It is filled with the
sweet and sour phases of friendship. I was amazed by how the main
character, Zia, absolutely fantasised about being an anchor. This is
why, she works at their school's new station even though she is just her
ex-best friend, Sam, assistant. The main reason why Sam joined the
new station of their school was to prove to her mom that she was
better than Zia. Samʼs mom constantly compares Zia and Sam which
leads Sam to compete with her ex-best friend. Sam insulted and
humiliated Zia in many possible ways. Additionally, I learned that the
very reason why the two ended up being enemies is because they
are constantly changing which leads to miscommunication.
Furthermore, I love how the film ended with the two settling their issue
and choosing to prioritize their peace and their friendship above all.

To wrap it all up, I learned that friendship can be a confusing

thing. You think you know who your friends are, but they change all
the time. The changes they made resulted in miscommunication and
misunderstanding. Nevertheless, through the power of forgiveness,
nothing can beat a true friendship.
