different kinds of
point of view
A long time ago the Moon was
brighter than the Sun. The people
worked when the Moon was out
and slept when the Sun came
out. The Sun was often jealous of
the Moon because it was brighter
than himself.
One day, the Sun put a heavy
boulder on the limbs of a pine
tree. Then he told the Moon, as
they passed through the forest, “I
was told that there is much gold
under that stone, you can have
the gold.” Eagerly, the Moon did
as he was told.
The stone was heavy, and it took some
time to lift. As soon as the Moon had
moved the boulder away, the tree’s
branches sprang up and scratched him
badly on the face. Since then, he has not
shone as brightly as the Sun, so that
now the Sun is brighter than the Moon.
The two have always been enemies
since then.

Point of View is the perspective in which a
story is told. The point of view is the narrator’s
perspective, meaning it is the perspective of the
one reading the story. It directs how the story
will unfold, and influences the tone of the book.
The point of view of a story impacts the reader’s
depth of understanding of a book or a story
because the narrator can provide the reader
with information or withhold information.

Filipino folklore includes rhymes, ballads, verses, tales, proverbs,
superstitions, fables, myths, legends, and even dance rituals. They were
handed down to the readers by their great grandparents. They are worth
cherishing because they tell about the origins as Filipinos. The joys,
fears, sorrows, beliefs, and practices of the early Filipinos are mirrored
in them.
Directions: Read each sentence. Write if it is written from
first, second or third person point of view.
