Assalamualaikum teacher, my name is Muhammad Fathullah Danish bin Mohd Fauzan.

I am from 4
Iman. So, today experiment we are going to make simple machines. Simple machines are like lever,
screw, wheel and axle, wedge and pulley. But today we are going to make a simple pulley. What is a
pulley? A pulley is simply a collection of one or more wheels over which you loop a rope to make it
easier to lift things.

Pulleys are examples of what scientists call simple machines. That doesn't mean they're packed with
engines and gears; it just means they help us multiply forces. If you want to lift a really heavy weight,
there's only so much force your muscles can supply, even if you are the world's strongest man. But use a
simple machine such as a pulley and you can effectively multiply the force your body produces.

So to do the simple pulley today, the materials that we need are …….. Let’s we start.

If you have a single wheel and a rope, a pulley helps you reverse the direction of your lifting force. If you
want to lift something that weight 1 kg, you have to pull down with a force equivalent to 1 kg, which is
10N (newtons). If you want to raise the weight 1m into the air, you have to pull the loose end of the
rope a total distance of 1m at the other end. Load means the weight of an object and effort means the
amount of force required to lift or move this object. When you put two or more wheels together, and
run around them, you have created a great lifting machine. Hence, by decreasing the effort needed to
lift the load you have to apply the force for a longer period of time.
