DOUBLE COMPARATIVES
The more / The less + (noun /noun phrase) + subject +verb

The ---er / The less + (noun /noun phrase) + subject +verb

Double comparatives are often used to underline the importance of


doing or not doing a certain activity. (en español se puede traducir por
“Cuanto más….., más…..”). Here are some examples of double
comparatives:

*The more you study, the more you learn.

*The less money I spend, the less I have to worry about saving.

*The faster the car is, the more dangerous it is to drive.

*The crazier the idea is, the funnier it is to try.

*The more comfortably you work, the less stressed you are.

REPEATED COMPARATIVES
Repeated comparatives are often used to express that a quality is getting
more powerful. ( en español se puede traducir por “cada vez más…….”).
Here are some examples of repeated comparatives:

I didn´t like the book at first, but it´s getting more and more interesting.

*My English results are getting worse and worse.

*She is feeling better and better.

*I find this more and more difficult.

*It is becoming darker and darker.
