sausage dog scarf pattern

by devout hand

Hi there!

First of all, thanks for supporting my small business – it really means the world!

This patterns will teach you how to crochet your very own sausage dog scarf.
Please feel free to make as many as you like, and hand them out to all of your
friends/fam. Become a sausage dog gang!

If you post pics of your lil’ long scarf on any social channel (instagram, tiktok,
etc.), please tag me - my handle is @devout_hand. Even if you don’t post your
pics, I’d still love to see them <3 You can send them to me via dm or email!

Please note that selling any items made with this pattern is prohibited. I spent a
lot of time perfecting the pattern, so please respect that.

Pattern instructions for the sausage dog scarf

Making this scarf is actually pretty simple! All you need to know beforehand is
the single stitch technique (US terminology, tutorial by GoodKnitKisses here) and
the tapestry crochet technique (tutorial by The Crochet Crowd here). Once you have
a hang of those techniques, follow the steps below:

1. Choose two colours of yarn that go well together.

a. I use DROPS Paris yarn (100% cotton, 50g) and a 5mm crochet hook, but
feel free to use any material/thickness you’d like. Keep in mind that
changes in yarn weight and hook size will affect the width of your
scarf.
b. I use around 3,5–4 skeins of DROPS Paris for the background and 1,5–2
for the pup. Depending on your yarn, you might need less/more.
2. Chain 26 + 1 to turn in your background colour to start! Please note that
the foundation chain does not count as a row.
3. Follow the graph pattern below. I’d recommend printing it so you can cross
out the rows you’ve finished, or using the progress tracker in StitchFiddle:
sausage dog graph pattern.
a. Use single stitch throughout the whole pattern. Use the tapestry
technique to switch between colours.
b. Start from the bottom (row 1) and work your way up. Keep in mind the
tapestry technique means the 1st row will be from right-left, 2nd will
be from left-right, 3rd will be from right-left and so forth. (Or,
every odd number will be from right-left, and every even number
left-right.)
4. You can make your lil’ pet scarf as long as you like! Just repeat rows 19-24
until you’re satisfied with the length.
i. I don’t count the rows (way too tedious!), but I make sure the
butt+body part of the scarf is around 150cm long before I start
making the head. That’ll leave you with a scarf that is around
170cm long.
5. Enjoy your long buddy <3
