Simple Aspects
of Verbs
Simple Aspect
It is the verb form used to express a
fact. Unlike other aspects the simple
aspect does not make it clear whether
the action is a complete action or a
habitual action.

Simple Past Tense
Regular verbs form their past by just
adding “d” or “ed” at the end of them.
But irregular ones may change their
spelling.

We painted the house.

I played basketball yesterday.


Simple Present Tense
For simple present verbs, most singular
verbs add “s” or “es” at their end while
plural ones take the base form of the
verb.

Example:

plays / play cooks / cook

Joseph studies his lesson.


We clean the house.
Simple Future Tense
For the future tense verbs, they use
the auxiliary verb “will” or “shall” plus
the base form of the verb.

Example:

will play will cook


will study will practice

We will visit our grandmother


on Saturday.
