Position: Insurance Claims Officer
Duties and responsibilities:

 Liase with external and internal stakeholders in obtaining estimates for claims

 Make sure all vehicles bear government licenses, such as insurance covers, motor vehicles,
C28, C40, LATRA, ABNORMAL PERMIT and COMESA and all are updated/valid.
 Inputting permits to make sure renewal is done before the deadline and updated in SAP daily
Assisting with the renewal of insurance policies.
 Manage and update asset register and submit to general manager as required.
 Submit the claim to the insurance agencies in the case of trucks and seek compensation.
 Organize drop off empty containers and reduce unnecessary demurrage charges.
 Make sure all empty containers surrendered at the shipping line are intact and in case of
damage organize for repair before being sent to the shipping line.
 Plan with drivers regarding offloading schedule
 Liaise with the documentation Manager in the Preparation of daily operational budgets and
submit them to the transport manager to endorse and submit to the finance facilitator to
process the cash withdrawal.
 Receives reports of claims of damage via telephone or other acceptable communications
methods for initiation with the brokers to make follow-up on claims with our insurance
company. Processes written claims, contacting policyholders to gather additional information
as needed. When an accident has occurred, acquire a copy of the police report and gather facts
concerning the accident, any injuries, or property damage. Determines the location of the
vehicle and assigns the claim to a claim examiner.
 Receives vehicle examination reports from claims examiners and processes reports for
further action that may include claim payment, process, or subrogation.
 Developing and suggesting new auto insurance policies to meet the changing and varying
needs of the company with the help of company brokers.
 Performs other related duties as assigned as assigned by Transport Manager/General
Manager.
