The document discusses how God works to overcome sin through his plan of salvation. It notes that God accomplished this plan through an insignificant place, Bethlehem, and by giving his only Son as a redeemer. The Messiah would come as a shepherd-king to bring peace to the world by standing up for his flock against assailants. The passage references prophecies that the child born in Bethlehem would be called Wonderful Counselor and Prince of Peace, and that his government and peace would have no end.

O daughter of troops. He has laid siege against us. They will strike the judge of Israel on the cheek with a rod."
How does the love of God overcome sin?
I. God works Hs plan of salvation in an insignificant place v2
2“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you will come forth to me the one who is to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from of old, from everlasting”.
II. God give His only Son as a Redeemer (v3)
3 Therefore he will give them up,
until the time that she who travails has given birth. Then the remnant of his brethren will return to the children of Israel.
III. Messiah will come as shepherd-king (v4)
4 And he will stand and shepherd
his flock in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God; and they will remain, for now he will be great to the ends of the earth.
IV. He brings about peace to the world (v5)
5 And this man will be our peace. When the Assyrian comes into our land, and when he treads in our palaces, then we will raise against him seven shepherds, and eight leaders of men.
As it says in Isaiah 9:6-7;
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given. And the government will be on his shoulder; and his name will be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Father of Eternity, The Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end, on the throne of David, and over his kingdom, to order it and establish it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will accomplish this.
Praise God for the glories of this King who was born for us from out of Bethlehem!
