GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

1. You have 1 day for preparation.

2. Please prepare based on the materials you received. For STEM-related
question, you may be required to watch a video for background information.
The relevant link(s) could be accessed in this file.
3. You may prepare presentation tools (e.g. a picture or a drawing) for
i. English Language Part B (Individual Response), and
ii. STEM-related question.
During the interview, you may use the tool(s) prepared to help demonstrate
your answers and facilitate the sharing.
4. You are NOT allowed to refer to your own notes for English Language Part
A (Read Aloud) during the interview.
5. Please prepare the designated set. The School does not accept requests for
switching to other question set(s).

 PART 1: ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Instructions to candidates:

1. During the interview, you have 2 minutes to read aloud the passage in Part
A and about 1 minute to answer the question in Part B.
2. While reading aloud the passage, please demonstrate some storytelling
skills like pauses and changes in pitch, pace, volume and tone.
3. During the presentation, you may use some presentation tools (e.g. a
picture or a drawing) to facilitate the delivery.

Part A: Read Aloud (2 minutes)

Please read aloud the following extract:
A destitute Fisherman, whose livelihood relied solely on his catch. The Fisherman
experienced a stroke of misfortune one day, capturing only a diminutive Fish.

Just as the Fisherman was about to toss it into his basket, the little Fish pleaded,
“Please! Spare me, Mr. Fisherman! For God’s sake, show mercy! I am still too tiny to
satiate your hunger. Allow me to grow, and I shall provide you with a far more
substantial feast one day.”

Showing no hesitation, the Fisherman promptly deposited the Fish into his basket and
declared, “Regardless of your small size, you are superior to having nothing at all.”

你和你的朋友正在玩一個叫做「挑糖果」的遊戲。一開始桌子上有 30 粒
糖果。每位玩家輪流拿走糖果，直到桌上的所有糖果都被拿走。每位玩家
在自己的回合中必須至少拿 1 粒糖果，最多可以拿 5 粒糖果。最後一個拿
走糖果的人輸掉遊戲。

要成為這個遊戲的贏家，你會選擇先拿還是讓你的朋友先拿？請詳細說明
你在每個回合中會怎麼做。試用自訂的表達手法解釋你的答案。

You and your friend are now playing a game called Picking Candies. Initially,
there are 30 candies on a table. Each player takes turns to pick up candies till
all the candies are removed from the table. Each player in his turn has to pick a
minimum of 1 candy and a maximum of 5 candies. The last person to pick up
the piece of candy loses the game.

To be the winner of this game, will you choose to pick first or let your friend
pick first? Elaborate what you will do in each of your turn.
