This cowl is worked from the bottom to the top. Starting with the
main color (orange pictured) cast on the number of stitches needed
for the size cowl you are making.
Knit:
3 rounds (12/18 months size)
4 rounds (toddler/child sizes)
5 rounds (teen/adult sizes)
Knit:
20 rounds (teen/adult sizes)
17 rounds (child)
14 rounds (toddler)
11 rounds (12/18 months)
For all sizes work one round as follows: knit 2 together, knit all
around. This will leave you with an even number of stitches for the
decrease round.
Next make sure to follow the decrease for the size cowl you are
making.
Adult: *knit 12, k2tog, repeat from * all around. (52 sts)
Child: *knit 11, k2tog, repeat from * all around. (48 sts)

Note: You will be working the hood back and forth in rows on the
remaining stitches (no longer working in the round). The first row
you will turn so the inside of the cowl is now facing you, work across
all the stitches, then turn at the end of the row so the outside of the
cowl is now facing you, work across all the stitches. Continuing like
this until the hood measures the length needed for the size you are
making.

**Crochet edge around the front of the hood. With your crochet
hook M-13/9 mm make a slip stitch in the first stitch at the bottom
center of the hood, chain 1 (counts as your first single crochet), now
working a single crochet in every other stitch all around the front of
your hood, slip stitch into your first single crochet. Chain 1 (counts
as first single crochet) work a single crochet in each single crochet
all around the hood slip stitch into the first single crochet. Break
yarn and weave in all the ends. Fold the seed stitch front of the
hood back and tack at the very top with the tapestry needle and a
piece of yarn. This will keep it secure. Place the 2 buttons at the
bottom of the hood to secure the small front edge down.
These ears are worked all in one piece and then you fold them in
half. The orange spice color portion is a little larger than the white.
Fold ear in half along row 12, with the crochet hook work a single
crochet stitch along the two sides of the ear to secure the ear
together. Break yarn weave in all ends. Make your second ear.
