for the size cowl you are making.

Place marker and join to begin working in the round.

Round 1: *k1, p1, repeat from * all around.

Round 2: *p1, k1, repeat from * all around

Switch to the contrast color (black pictured) for the band.

Knit:
3 rounds (12/18 months size)
4 rounds (toddler/child sizes)
5 rounds (teen/adult sizes)

Switch back to the main color (orange pictured).

Knit:
20 rounds (teen/adult sizes)
17 rounds (child)
14 rounds (toddler)
11 rounds (12/18 months)

For all sizes work one round as follows: knit 2 together, knit all
around. This will leave you with an even number of stitches for the
decrease round.

Next make sure to follow the decrease for the size cowl you are
making.

Child: *knit 11, k2tog, repeat from * all around. (48 sts)

The hood will be worked on the remaining stitches:

Page 3

Note: You will be working the hood back and forth in rows on the
remaining stitches (no longer working in the round). The first row
you will turn so the inside of the cowl is now facing you, work across
all the stitches, then turn at the end of the row so the outside of the
cowl is now facing you, work across all the stitches. Continuing like
this until the hood measures the length needed for the size you are
making.

Bind off your hood, fold in half and stitch the top together from the
inside. (I like to use a mattress stitch.)

**Crochet edge around the front of the hood. With your crochet
hook M-13/9 mm make a slip stitch in the first stitch at the bottom
center of the hood, chain 1 (counts as your first single crochet), now
working a single crochet in every other stitch all around the front of
your hood, slip stitch into your first single crochet. Chain 1 (counts
as first single crochet) work a single crochet in each single crochet
all around the hood slip stitch into the first single crochet. Break
yarn and weave in all the ends. Fold the seed stitch front of the
hood back and tack at the very top with the tapestry needle and a
piece of yarn. This will keep it secure. Place the 2 buttons at the
bottom of the hood to secure the small front edge down.

Fox Ears: make 2

These ears are worked all in one piece and then you fold them in
